Tablet shipments in India up 7.8% in Q3 2016, Datawind continues lead: IDC

A total of 1.06 million tablets including slate and detachables have been shipped in India in CY Q3 2016 remaining stagnant over the same period last year, according to International Data Corporation (IDC). The total tablet shipments grew 7.8 percent in Q3 2016 over Q2 2016.

Worldwide tablet market falls 4%, shipment hits 44.7 million units for Q2, 2015: Report

Global tablet market declined 4% in Q2, 2015, compared to the previous quarter with shipments totaling 44.7 million units, as per a latest from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Tablet Tracker.

Global wearables market to grow 173.3% in 2015: Report

The worldwide wearables market is expected to ship 72.1 million wearable devices in 2015, up a strong 173.3% from the 26.4 million units shipped in 2014, as per a latest forecast from International Data Corporation (IDC).

Tablet PC market declines in India by 13.9%

According to research done by CMR, the Tablet PC market in India has shown a double digit decline of 13.9% QoQ (Quarter on Quarter) for the first time. BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) enabled tablets accounted for 60% of the tablet shipments during the same timeframe.

Apple replaces Xiaomi as China’s top smartphone seller while its market contracts

China’s smartphone market has contracted by 4% YoY (Year on Year), in the first quarter of 2015 with 98.8 million units as opposed to the same time frame last year. This is the first time in six years that the Chinese market has declined YoY.

Indian tablet market soars by 10%, almost 1 million units shipped in Q3, 2014: Report

The tablet market in India has reported a strong quarter-on-quarter growth of 10%, according to a latest report from IDC. A total of 0.94 million tablets were shipped in the Q3, 2014 as compared to 0.86 million at a 9 per cent growth over the Q2, 2014.

Google lifted the curtains from its latest redesign of the Android Marketplace app. The application now supports renting movies and purchasing books straight from the app itself in supported countries. Alongside , it brings a major overhaul in the UI of the application.

Hello Moto becomes Hello Samsung as Motorola looses global market share

Samsung has raced past Motorola for the the 2nd spot in the global market share for mobile phones by shipping about  37 Million mobile phones this quarter.The growing list of handsets the Korean company has in its offering might be the reason.

Things are not so good for Motorola and have not managed something as spectacular since the RAZR about a couple of years back. Motorola’s top management might under go a change .It managed only about 35 Million shipments in the quarter  and is seeing huge losses.

Sony Ericsson is till behind with about 25 million shipments.

Samsung’s success can been attributed  to hits Ultra Line of handsets and also a lot of Entry level handsets for the emerging markets.(Both Moto and SE are trying to find an answer for this one )

Nokia is the market leader and is expected to announce its results for the quarter in a months time.
