Acer Liquid E2 with 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, Android 4.1 announced

Acer has announced the Liquid E2, successor of the Liquid E1 that was released earlier this year. It has a 4.5-inch (960 × 540 pixels) display and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) similar to the Liquid E1, but it is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor. It has a 8MP auto focus camera at the back with LED flash, 1080p HD video recording and  can capture 8 pictures per second in burst mode. It also has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It also features dual speakers and DTS digital audio support for enhanced audio output. It also has dual SIM variant, Acer Liquid E2 Duo that would be available in select markets. Apple announces WWDC 2013 for June 10th – 14th

Apple has just announced the dates for its annual developer conference, Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Scheduled to be held in San Francisco from June 10th to 14th, the event will showcase the next version of iOS and OSX.

UCWeb releases UC Browser 9.0 for Android and Java based phones

UC Browser for Android and Java phones have been updated to version 9.0. The new updated brings UI enhancements, offline mode and lot more new features for the Android version. The Java app brings new UI, UDisk, better audio and video playback and more. UC Browser for iPad 2.0 was released recently that brought better performance, View it Later and more. UC Browser crossed 400 million users across 150 countries recently. It hold 25% market share in India, says the company. Sony Xperia P, go and E dual Android 4.1 update starts rolling out, Xperia S, SL and ion getting it from May end

Sony Mobile has announced that they have started rolling out Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update  (v 6.2.A.0.400) for the Xperia P, Xperia go and the Xperia E dual. Sony Xperia J got the Jelly bean update last month, and the Xperia T and Xperia V got the update earlier this year. The Sony Xperia Tablet S got the Android 4.1 update last week. Sony confirmed Jelly Bean update for range of 2012 Xperia devices back in October. Sony Mobile has announced that the Xperia S,Xperia SL, Xperia ion and Xperia acro S would start receiving the Android 4.1 update from the end of May. Here is an exclusive unboxing video of the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 which is coming soon to India as the Galaxy Note 510. We have the 16GB WiFi only version with us but this tablet should be coming out in a WiFi+3G fashion too in India when it launches.Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 8.0  during MWC 2013 and showed off the Note 510 at its regional forum event in Hyderabad.It is a 8.0 inch Android  tablet running on Android 4.1.2 JellyBean and features a stylus known as S-Pen found on Samsung’s Note lineup of products. Fly Mobiles has launched the Fly F45s, the company’s latest Android smartphone. It has a 4.5-inch (960 × 540 pixels) qHD capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 12-megapixel auto focus camera with LED Flash that can take 80 burst shots. It also has a 3-megapixel front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support with dual standby. Videocon is also expected to launch the A47 with a 4.7-inch qHD display, Android 4.1 and a 12MP camera. The Celkon A119 Signature HD that we reviewed recently has a 5-inch HD display, but most of the features are similar to the Fly F45S.

Nokia released the Asha 205, a QWERTY phone with a dedicated button to access Facebook. It has a 2.4-inch (240 x 320 pixels) 65k color display, a QWERTY keyboard. It has Slam feature to share multimedia content like photos, music and videos with nearby friends instantly. It has a 2MP rear camera with dedicated camera key. It has Self-portrait and option to share photos easily straight from the camera application to your social networks.

Asus has launched the Fonepad, the company’s first 7-inch tablet with voice calling support, as we reported earlier this week. The Fonepad has a  7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) IPS display, runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and is powered by a 1.2 GHz Intel Atom Z2420 processor. It packs a 3-megapixel auto focus rear camera which supports 720p HD video recording and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has metallic finish with a streamlined design. ZTE signs patent agreement with Microsoft for Android and Chrome devices

ZTE, popular Chinese smartphone and tablet manufacturer has announced that they have signed a patent licensing agreement with Microsot that covers ZTE devices running on Android and Chrome OS Platform, according to a recent report from Reuters. Microsoft had already signed agreement with others Android OEMs such as  HTC, Samsung, LG and Acer and 15 others. Microsoft doesn’t have any deal with another popular Chinese Smartphone maker Huawei. Apple revealed its second quarter results just a while back and during its investor call, CEO Tim Cook has teased the coming of exciting new product categories. Cook suggested that the company was working on exciting new products to be announced by fall.

Apple sold 37.4 million iPhones, 19.5 million iPads – $43.6 billion revenue and $9.5 billion profit in Q2 2013

Apple just announced it earnings for the quarter ended March 30 2013 or Q2 2013 with revenue of $43.6 billion and net profit of $9.5 billion after selling 37.4 million iPhones and 19.5 million iPads.The company also sold 4 million Macs.International sales contributed 66% of the revenue. Apple’s enormous cash pile increased to $145 billion. Looks like iPhone sales are slowing down in anticipation of the newer model. Apple sold 47.8 million iPhones in previous quarter in comparison.
