Jolla to unveil Sailfish OS at Slush conference in Helsinki

Jolla Mobile, the Finnish mobile startup, has announced that it will be showing off its MeeGo based smartphone operating system at the Slush startup conference in Helsinki. The conference is slated to take place from 21-22 November. The operating system has been codenamed Sailfish and details regarding the SDK for the OS will be rolled out around the same time.

Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 coming to AT&T in November

AT&T has announced they would sell both the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820, Nokia’s latest Windows Phone 8 devices. Both these devices were announced last month at an Event in New York, and the price of these phones were revealed for some European countries last week. The Lumia 920 has a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display, while the 820 comes with a 4.3 inch-inch (800 x 480 pixels) OLED  ClearBlack display. Both these phones are powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and has a 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video recording. TomTom launches its official navigation app on the Google Play store

TomTom is one of the best dedicated navigation application out there other than Google Maps. TomTom’s services were previously available on the iPhone and also HTC had exclusively used their service for their premium devices. Micromax has launched the Funbook Talk (P350), their new 7-inch tablet in the Funbook series. This tablet has a ear piece for voice calling and has 2G (GPRS) connectivity. Spice Stellar Horizon finally goes on sale in India for Rs. 12499

Spice Stellar Horizon (Mi-500) is finally available in India from online retailer Saholic. Spice unveiled the Stellar Horizon along with the other Android Smartphones, Stellar and Stellar Craze, but it was delayed.  It has a 5-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It was supposed to come with a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, but MediaTek announced that the phone would be powered by their new 1 GHz dual-core MT6577 processor. Nokia Xpress(beta), a cloud optimized browser that saves data & a lot more, now available for Lumia

Nokia has been toying around with a browser that compresses pages on the server side to save data consumption  for its S40 range of devices for quite a while now. The Nokia browser, as it was called when it launched, had similar functionality to the Opera Mini web browser, it saved data and made browsing much faster by compressing images and using some server side algorithms for data compression. Now, the same technology is coming to all of Nokia’s Windows Phone devices, the Lumia device range, and it is called Nokia Xpress, but alas, it carries the beta tag, for now.

Sony opens PlayStation Mobile for HTC devices

Motorola pulls out of the lawsuit filed against Apple in August

Motorola had filed a lawsuit against Apple over seven patents in August which if won would ban every device manufactured by Google from iPhone to the iMac. Now reports are that Google owned Motorola is taking a step back and pulling back the lawsuits which they had filed on import ban of Apple products.

Nokia might sell their main office in Finland to get some much needed money

Nokia is headquartered in Espoo, Finland, a city that takes less than 15 minutes to get to via bus from the center of Helsinki. The building they occupy is a stunning architectural achievement made out of steel, glass, and ample quantities of wood. According to Reuters, Nokia is so desperate for cash right now that they’re considering selling the building. It’s estimated that the property is worth between 200 million Euros and 300 million Euros. Does this mean Nokia is planning to leave Finland? No. In fact, Nokia probably isn’t even going to leave the building at all. They’ll likely sell it to someone who will then rent it out to them. This sort of arrangement means Nokia can spend less time worrying about real estate, which is a good thing, but it also means that Nokia can decide to leave the building whenever they want.
