From Sony’s new crop of Xperia, here’s Xperia E dual. Available in Stores and online at Rs. 10,990. The Xperia E dual would replace the Xperia tipo dual that we reviewed last year. This has a larger 3.5 inch display, powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227A processor and is also upgradable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean from the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

Microsoft has updated the Skype app for Windows Phone 8 to version 2.4 that brings several new features including support for 720p HD video calls on high-end devices. The app intelligently determines the best quality based on the device and the connection. This update also brings landscape mode for video calls, option to switch between either cameras during a call and lots more. The first preview version of Skype for Windows Phone 8 was released back in November last year. Gaana Music app now available for Windows Phone devices

Times Internet has finally launched the Gaana Music app for Windows Phone devices including the Windows Phone 8. Both the Gaana and Microsoft teams have been working closely to release the Windows Phone app, and it was finally launched at the TechEd in Bangalore. The Gaana Music app for Android, iPhone, BlackBerry and Java phones were released earlier this year. Gmail v4.3 for Android brings quick reply, delete from notification drawer

Google has updated the Gmail app for Android to version 4.3 that brings new features including option to reply, delete or archive emails directly from the notification drawer for devices running on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and above. This update also brings new features including faster offline search for Android devices running on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and above. It also brings lot of improvements and bug fixes. Airtel can continue 3G Intra-circle roaming till final order, says Delhi HC

Delhi High Court has temporarily stalled the execution of the Department of Telecom’s (DoT) order asking Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles in 3 days, where they did not acquire the license, according to a recent report from Economic Times. Bharti Airtel challenged the DoT’s order in the Delhi Hight Court last week, and the court ordered them to pay Rs. 350 crore (Rs. 50 crore per circle) for violating licence norms. Sony Xperia SP and Xperia L get a pre-order price in UK, coming late April


Sony announced the Xperia SP and the mid-range Xperia L smartphone yesterday. Online retailer Clove UK has announced that they have started taking pre-orders for these devices. The Xperia SP has a  4.6-inch (1280×720 pixels) HD Reality Display with with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, powered by a 1.7 GHz Dual-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960Pro processor and the Xperia L comes with a 4.3-inch (854 x 480 pixels) Scratch-resistant capacitive touch screen display and is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8230 processor. Quite possibly the best designed Sony handset ever, it combines impeccable craftsmanship with performance worthy of a class leading device. Fujitsu’s technology lets the smartphone camera calculate your pulse rate

Fujitsu, the Japanese company known for its various offerings in the field of consumer electronics and IT services has developed a novel technology to calculate a person’s pulse rate using just the built in camera of a PC, a tablet or just your Smartphone. This is accomplished by Fujitsu’s own software which uses facial imaging algorithms to define the pulse rate of an individual.

ST-Ericsson: Loss making mobile chip venture to be split, 1600 jobs to go

The loss making join venture between STMicroelectronics and Ericsson will be split and parts of the business will be absorbed between the two companies while the rest will be closed according to a report by Reuters. The move will result in the loss of 1600 jobs. Sony Xperia E and the Xperia E dual (C1604) went on pre-order online last week, now online retailer Saholic has started selling the Xperia E dual in India. Both the Xperia E and the Xperia E dual were announced back in December 2012. It comes with a 3.5-inch (480 x 320 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display, Dual SIM support and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), which is Upgradable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Huawei MediaPad 7 Vogue received DLNA certification earlier this month, now evleaks has outed an official press image of the device. The MediaPad 7 Vogue was already mentioned back in an official MWC press release last month. It would come with a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) IPS mult-touch screen display, similar to the Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite that was launched in India last November. Even thought the display size and the resolution are similar, the MediaPad 7 Vouge would come with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and it would be powered by a 1.2 GHz / 1.5 GHz quad-core Cortex A9 processor based on the the model. Nokia registers 23% drop in revenues in India

As part of its rather tumultuous transition period, Nokia has reported a decline in annual revenue from its India business for the second consecutive year. A drop of 23% has been reported resulting in annual revenues of €2,227 million. Nokia accounts this to increasing competition and currency fluctuation

Sony Xperia L with 4.3-inch display, 1 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, Android 4.1 announced

Sony Mobile has also announced a mid-range device, the Xperia L along with the Xperia SP. It has a 4.3-inch (854 x 480 pixels) Scratch-resistant capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8230 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It comes with a 8MP rear camera with LED Flash, Exmor RS sensor and also has a dedicated camera key. It is capable of recording 720p HD videos. It also comes with a VGA front-facing camera. It has a LED notification light below the display. Looks like this would replace the Xperia J that was launched last year.

It comes with a 4.6-inch (1280×720 pixels) HD Reality Display with with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, powered by a 1.7 GHz Dual-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960Pro processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a colour-changing transparent element with customizable illuminations at the bottom. It also comes with 4G LTE support in select markets. It has a 8MP auto focus camera with LED Flash, Exmor RS sensor and a VGA front-facing camera.
