Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Specs Inc., a subsidiary of Snap, have established a multi-year strategic agreement. Under this partnership, future generations of Specs eyewear will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon system-on-a-chip (SoC) technology.
Hardware and Technology Integration
Specs Inc. is preparing to launch its advanced eyewear to consumers later this year. The devices function as standalone, see-through glasses designed to overlay digital content and audio onto the user’s physical environment.
The upcoming eyewear will run on Snapdragon XR platforms. By combining edge AI with high-performance, low-power computing, the hardware aims to process context-aware experiences directly on the device. This on-device processing is intended to facilitate faster interactions while maintaining user privacy.
Continuing an Existing Partnership
This new agreement extends a long-standing technical relationship between Snap and Qualcomm. Historically, Snapdragon platforms have provided the computing power for several previous iterations of Snap’s Spectacles.
Moving forward, the two companies plan to align their strategic roadmaps and technical resources to integrate specific capabilities into the Specs platform. Key areas of focus include:
- On-device Artificial Intelligence
- Advanced Graphics Processing
- Multiuser Digital Experiences
Support for Developers
Beyond the hardware itself, the joint initiative is structured to establish a scalable foundation for third-party developers and partners. By maintaining a predictable product release cadence, Qualcomm and Specs Inc. aim to support the growing community of creators building software and digital experiences for the Specs ecosystem.
Evan Spiegel, co-founder and CEO of Snap Inc., said:
We believe the future of computing will be more human and grounded in the real world. Our work with Qualcomm Technologies provides a strong foundation for the future of Specs, bringing developers and consumers advanced technology and performance that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible.
Cristiano Amon, President and Chief Executive Officer, Qualcomm Incorporated, said:
The next era of computing will be defined by devices that understand what you see, hear and say as well as context and respond instantly to the world around you. Our work on future generations of Specs will enable power-efficient interactive AR devices that deliver agentic experiences that feel natural, intuitive and integrate seamlessly into daily life.
