Sony Xperia Z launched in India for Rs. 38990

Sony Mobile has launched the Xperia Z, their latest flagship device in India. It was announced at CES 2013 earlier this year, and appeared on Sony India website last month. Sony announced the Xperia Z launch date in India last week, and the Xperia ZL also launched along with the Xperia Z. Price of both the Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL were already revealed online. The Xperia Z has a OmniBalance design with rounded edges and smooth, reflective surfaces on all sides. Imangi Studios released the Temple Run: Brave in partnership with Disney/Pixar last June. Now the two companies have partnered once again to bring Temple Run: Oz based on the Temple Run 2 and inspired by Oz the Great and Powerful movie that is releasing in cinemas this week. This game would let you Play as Oz and outrun the shrieking flying baboons as you turn, jump and slide your way across the land. At MWC 2013 , we were lucky to sit down with Marc Dillon, CEO of Jolla which is a mobile start-up based  in Finland. While Jolla might be new to mobile scene, most of the team previously worked with Nokia for several years before stepping out to start Jolla.If you were a fan of the Nokia N9 or any of the  Maemo or MeeGo devices , you will surely appreciate the approach Jolla’s Sailfish OS brings to the mobile arena.

Sony XPERIA Z and ZL Pre-Order Prices revealed in India, shipping in March 3rd week

Flipkart recently revealed the pre order price for the soon-to-be launched Nokia Lumia 620, and today, they have done it again, by announcing pre order prices of the Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia ZL which are slated to be announced tomorrow, at a special event. The pre order prices are listed as Rs 38,990 for the Xperia Z and Rs. 35,990 for the Xperia ZL. Flipkart also reveals that the estimated delivery would be 3rd week of March, from which we can safely assume that the retail launch will be some time around the exact time frame. The Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL were announced at the Consumer Electronics show in January and have been since much awaited in the Indian market.

ZTE Grand Memo hands on

ZTE had a press conference at the Mobile World Congress on Day one of the event for the announcement of its new phablet device known as the ZTE Grand Memo. It was presided over by ZTE executives as well as Qualcomm executives who shared that the Grand memo will be the first device to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad core processor. So, we were intrigued and wanted to take a closer look at the device, and hence we did a photo gallery initially but now, here is the hands on video below.

Idea cellular has launched Zeal, their new Dual SIM Android smartphone with 3G support in affordable price range. It has 3.5 inch (320 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and runs on Android 2.3 ( Gingerbread) similar to the Idea Aurus that was launched last year. This phone is aimed at 3G data users in semi-urban and rural markets. It is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor and comes with Dual SIM (GSM + GSM) support. Opera 14 beta for Android with new UI and WebKit engine released

Opera has finally released a beta version of their mobile browser for Android based on WebKit rendering engine. Opera already announced that they would move from Presto engine to WebKit engine that is being used widely, and this is their first release with the WebKit engine (AppleWebKit/537.22 and Chrome/25.0.1364.123) onboard. The new version also brings completely revamped UI, Off-Road mode, Opera Mini compression built-in, Omnibar with combined search and URL field and lots more. LG has released new Quick Cover case for the Optimus G in Korea. They come in 7 colors, including 5 shiny variants and two patterned variants. The Quick Cover case has a semiconductor device mounted on a magnetic substance on the cover, that makes the screen turn off immediately when closed, and wake up immediately when opened. Twitter to shut down TweetDeck for Android and iPhone


Twitter has announced that they would shut down TweetDeck mobile apps for Android and iPhone. Twitter stopped development of these apps when it acquired TweetDeck, and concentrated more on the official Twitter apps for Android, iPhone and iPad. Twitter for Android and iPhone got a new UI back in December 2011, and the latest update brought improved Search and Discover features. Samsung Galaxy S4 new renders surface, reveals design and specs

Samsung Galaxy S4 specifications surfaced last month along with an image, but the phone’s image was not clear to show the complete design. Now a new render has surfaced on twitter that shows the design of the Samsung’s next flagship Galaxy smartphone. Unlike the previous Galaxy S series smartphones, this doesn’t feature the home button or capacitive touch buttons below the display. Looks like Samsung would go the Nexus way finally. Google Chrome to bring server side compression for faster browsing?

Opera Mini’s been doing it for a long time, with Amazon Silk and the Nokia S40 Xpress Browser chiming in with similar functionality over the past years, all aimed at reducing the amount of mobile data consumed while browsing on the go. It may seem like a not-so-great idea considering the ubiquity of mobile data today, but the problem is still real, with carriers getting choked on one end, and people unwillingly spending their valuable data on the other end. Like other, Google too is now looking at fixing this using server side optimization of websites using a proxy server. This was spotted by Google Plus user Francois.
