Saavn, one of the popular Indian music streaming service has updated its Saavn Music app for Android to version 3.0. This brings a new user interface that lets users access Saavn Radio, new releases, top playlists and song of the day easily from tiled homescreen  and full-screen album art in the Saavn player. This update also brings better support for low-end Android smartphones with smaller screens and support for Android tablets. Flipkart secures $210 million in funding from DST Global and others

Soon after acquiring fashion e-retailer Myntra for an estimated price of over $330 million, Flipkart has received funding worth $210 million from DST Global which is a fund led by Yuri Milner. Other investors in this latest round of funding include existing invested Tiger Global, Accel Partners and Iconiq Capital. Apple asks the US Court to ban sales of Samsung devices

Apple is not letting it go. The iPhone and iPad maker is re-targeting Samsung for patent infringement. Apple has filed a motion with the US court to block the U.S. sale of some older Samsung products. The move comes from the company after a jury verdict earlier this month that Samsung violated three of its patents. Apple was granted mere $119.6 million in damages against $2 billion demanded in this latest verdict.

Paytm offers up to Rs. 500 Uber credits on recharge or bill payments

Paytm, one of the popular mobile commerce platforms has announced that they have tied up with Uber to offer up to Rs. 500 Uber credits to its customers those who recharge, pay a bill or shop on Paytm. Those who use Paytm for Rs. 500 or more would get 500 Uber Credits and usage between Rs. 300 to Rs. 499 would let you earn 300 Uber Credits. Leaked patents hints at Samsung’s upcoming wearable device

Samsung made its mark in the wearable devices market with Galaxy Gear line of smartwatches last year. Soon, the Korean tech giant forayed into fitness trackers with Galaxy Gear Fit. Last week we reported that Samsung’s next smartwatch can make phone calls independently.

Lava has launched Iris X1, the company’s latest budget smartphone in the Iris series as it promised recently. It has a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS screen, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor with Videocore IV GPU and runs on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) out of the box. It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor, dual LED flash, Multi-Element Lens, 1.4 mm Pixel Size and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has a similar design as the Iris Pro series. Vineet Taneja joins Micromax as CEO from Samsung India

Micromax has announced that it has appointed Vineet Taneja as Chief Executive Officer. He previously served as country Head for IT & Mobile businesses of Samsung India before leaving the company few weeks back. He joined Samsung back in March 2013 and had previously served in Bharti Airtel, Nokia India (between January 2008 to April 2010) and Hindustan Lever. He will focus on consolidating Micromax’s strong presence in the market, driving global partnerships and strategic alliances while strengthening the organizational capabilities within Micromax, said the company. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to be coming with a flurry of new features

According to SamMobile, Samsung is planning to cram even more software features into its upcoming flagship phablet – Galaxy Note 4. Samsung was the first company to foray into the 5inch+ display size category successfully and it happened because of the Galaxy Note. Samsung’s Galaxy Note series has been one of the main reasons for its dominance over the Android market. Samsung Galaxy Note series devices come with latest specifications, but that doesn’t make it special.

Microsoft announces Windows 8.1 With Bing for lower cost devices

Microsoft have announced via a blogpost that they are launching a new version of Windows called Windows 8.1 with Bing specially for lower cost and low power devices. Microsoft has been drastically changing its policies over the past few months by offering Windows for free for devices smaller than 9inches.
