HTC plans to launch entry-level 4G smartphones in the first quarter of 2015, according to a report from DigiTimes. It expects to ship twice the amount of products next year compared to this year, the report adds. This was revealed by Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia. Gionee launched the Elife S5.1, the company’s thinnest smartphone in India last month at a price tag of Rs. 18,999. It is the successor of the Gionee Elife S5.5 that was launched earlier this year. Even though it was called the world’s thinnest smartphone and even entered into the Guinness book of world records in September, it was dethroned by the Oppo R5 and later by the vivo X5Max that is 4.75mm thick. OnePlus has received a breather as the Delhi High Court lifted ban on sale of OnePlus One handsets in India. The company was earlier imposed a ban on December 16 from the same court.
Back in 2011, Samsung had launched the original Galaxy Note, a large screen device that brought the stylus back into vogue. Initially used as a substitute for the finger in old touchscreens, the stylus, also known as the S-Pen, became a value add for Samsung’s new experiment. Even though the positioning of the Note has slightly changed, the stylus has stuck to its place and evolved along with the device, now in its fourth iteration. HTC announced the Desire EYE in India at the Double Exposure event back in October. It was supposed to go on sale in the country exclusively on Amazon late November, but it didn’t happen. Today Mumbai-based retailer Manish Khatri from Mahesh Telecom said that the HTC Desire EYE would be available from select offline stores in India starting today.
