The Redmi Note 4 from Xiaomi was unveiled a good 10 months after the announcement of the Redmi Note 3. In November, a roadmap for Samsung’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow update had surfaced and it revealed that the Note5 and S6 edge+ would be getting the update sometime in December. One T-Mobile Note5 user even got the update to 6.0 accidentally but both the phones haven’t received the official release yet. However, it seems that Samsung is ready with the update for the Note 4 and they have already begun rolling out the update across some devices.

A software update roadmap for Samsung devices has just appeared online and it lists out 2 phases of updates for phones to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Samsung Galaxy Note5 and S6 edge+ will be the first to get it as they are scheduled for an update in December 2015 itself.

Back in 2011, Samsung had launched the original Galaxy Note, a large screen device that brought the stylus back into vogue. Initially used as a substitute for the finger in old touchscreens, the stylus, also known as the S-Pen, became a value add for Samsung’s new experiment. Even though the positioning of the Note has slightly changed, the stylus has stuck to its place and evolved along with the device, now in its fourth iteration. The Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition is designed to work specifically with the Note 4 to give the users a virtual reality experience on their mobile. Samsung partnered Oculus Rift to create the virtual reality headset.

According to SamMobile, Samsung is planning to cram even more software features into its upcoming flagship phablet – Galaxy Note 4. Samsung was the first company to foray into the 5inch+ display size category successfully and it happened because of the Galaxy Note. Samsung’s Galaxy Note series has been one of the main reasons for its dominance over the Android market.
