Fitbit to launch a new health and fitness smartwatch later this year

Fitbit reported $353M in revenue, down 40% and sold 3.4M devices, up 14% sequentially in Q2 2017. The company recorded a loss of $58.2 million and a profit of $6.3 million.  Fitbit has been working on a new smartwatch and it will be released later this year.

Uber has announced that it has completed 500 million trips in India. The cab aggregator reached this milestone four years since its entry in the country. Uber has also registered a double digit growth in India and almost 2.5 times YoY growth as of June’ 2017.

RED announced the HYDROGEN ONE Android smartphone with holographic display last month. The company did not show how it would look like. Now popular Youtuber Marques Brownlee has teased prototype of the phone on his channel to show how the phone will look like. He said he saw three different prototypes – a non-working unit with the final design and dimensions, one that shows the holographic display in action, and a third is a separate camera module with its own lens and sensor.

LG confirms 6-inch QHD+ OLED FullVision display with narrow bezels, Gorilla Glass 5 for V30

After rumors, LG has officially confirmed that its next flagship V30 smartphone will come with a 6-inch (1440 × 2880 pixels) QHD+ OLED FullVision display with 20% less upper and 50% less lower bezels compared to the V20. It also says that the OLED display will deliver 148% of the sRGB  color space for digital images and 109% of the DCI-P3 2 color space for digital cinema, while offering faster operational response time compared to LCD display. PayPal launches technology Innovation Labs in Chennai and Bengaluru in India

PayPal today launched two Technology Innovation Labs in Chennai and Bengaluru. This is the first Innovation Lab by PayPal in India and the third after US and Singapore. These labs will actively support technology innovation across diverse fields including machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, data science, IoT, penetration testing, software defined radios and wireless communication, VR/AR, computer vision and basic robotics.

Hyperloop One XP-1 autonomous pod achieves new top speed of 310 kmph

Hyperloop One today announced the successful completion of its second phase of testing. In Phase 2 test on July 29, 2017, it achieved new record speeds of 192 mph or 310 kmph traveling nearly the full distance of the 500-meter DevLoop track in the Nevada desert. The first-generation Hyperloop One XP-1 pod, accelerated for 300 meters and glided above the track using magnetic levitation before braking and coming to a gradual stop. Smartphone shipments fell 1.3% in Q2 2017: IDC

Smartphone vendors shipped a total of 341.6 million smartphones worldwide in the second quarter of 2017 (2Q17), according to preliminary results from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker.
