Lava Iris X1 is a mid-range Android smartphone that comes with above the price range specifications and shares its design language with one of the most premium smartphones in the market. Lava Iris X1 comes with a 4.5 inch FWVGA display, a quad-core processor from Broadcom and an iPhone-ish design language.

We are here at Taipei , Taiwan for Computex 2014 and today is the day 1 of the Ford Superfan Contest . Ford is showing off something really cool for the very first time in Asia at Computex this year and this is something which makes cars talk to each other and this works beyond just Ford cars and will surely make our roads safer in the near future.

Apple opens Touch ID API for all applications
Last year, Apple introduced the iPhone 5s with its Touch ID sensor on board. This fingerprint reader built into the home button itself was intimately tied in to the operating system. It allowed for a seamless way to unlock the device, offered a few more security related functions.
With the launch of iOS 8, developers will be able to use the Touch ID API to enable authentication for users. This’ll work in two ways. Developers can either use fingerprint based authentication for applications and in case of more sensitive use cases, offer Touch ID as a secondary means of authentication. Lava Iris 300 style and 3G 412 with Android 4.2 spotted on official website
Lava Iris 300 style and 3G 412, two new budget Android smartphones have been spotted on the official website. The Iris 300 style has a 3.5-inch HVGA screen and the Iris 412 has a 4-inch WVGA screen. Both these smartphones are powered by 1 GHz dual-core processors and run on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Both these have a 2-megapixel fixed-focus rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, but the Iris 300 style doesn’t have LED flash. Dell announces new Venue 7 and Venue 8 tablets with Android 4.4 KitKat
Dell has unveiled two Android tablets that are an upgrade to its Venue series at the Computex. Dubbed as Venue 7 and Venue 8, the tablets run on latest Android KitKat 4.4 and starts at US$159 and US$199 respectively.

Asus Fonepad 8 and new Fonepad 7 with quad-core Intel Atom processors announced
Asus has announced Fonepad 8 (FE380CG) and a new version of the Fonepad 7 (FE375CG) at the Computex 2014. The Fonepad 8 has a 8-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) IPS display with 5.06mm narrow bezel bezel and a screen-to-body ratio of 72.2%. The Fonepad 7 has a 7-inch (1280 x 800) display. Both these tablets are powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core 64-bit Intel Atom Z3560 processor with PowerVR Series 6 GPU and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Zen UI . Nokia acquires mapping start-up Desti to boost HERE Maps
In a bid to enhance its HERE Map offering, Nokia has bought Desti for an undisclosed sum. The mapping startup and app maker uses artificial intelligence and natural language processing to generate more personalized location searches and maps. Desti app is based out of the same research center as Siri and Nuance.

Asus has announced MeMO Pad 7 (ME176C), successor of last year’s MeMO Pad HD 7 at the Computex 2014 in Taipei. It has a 7-inch (1280 x 800) HD IPS multi-touch display, powered by a 1.86GHz quad-core 64-bit Intel Atom Z3745 processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with ZenUI on top. S Mobility has launched Spice Stellar 360, the company’s latest smartphone in the Stellar series with a physical QWERTY keyboard. It has a 3.5-inch HVGA screen, powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 3.2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It also has 3G connectivity and dual SIM support, similar to other Spice smartphones. Samsung Galaxy W with 7-inch HD display, LTE-A official
After several rumors Samsung has finally made the Samsung Galaxy W phablet official in Korea. It has a 7-inch (1280×720 pixels) TFT display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has Multi Window, S Planner , Pop up Play and also support Landscape mode in the homescreen. Motorola Mobility to shut down Texas smartphone factory
Motorola Mobility will shut down its smartphone factory at Fort Worth, Texas by the end of this year. According to the Wall Street Journal, the plant which was opened in May 2013 had 3,800 workers, which has now reduced to 700 employees. The factory primarily assembled the Moto X, Motorola’s high-end smartphone.
