Google has unveiled its first designer frame for the Google Glass with American fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg (DVF). The ‘DVF Made for Glass collection’ will be available to buy from the Google Glass website, Net-a-Porter and Mr. Porter starting June 23.

Among the numerous announcements at the Apple WWDC 2014 event in San Francisco, the announcement that brought the largest cheers and applause from the audience was the announcement of ‘Swift’, a new programming language. Apple’s Craig Federighi said that Apple wanted to create a language without the complications of Objective-C and they came up with ‘Swift’.
One of the biggest advantages of ‘Swift’ is that the developers will be able to have a real time view of the results as they type the code which was not possible in Objective-C. The press release for Swift reads as follows
Swift is a powerful new programming language for iOS and OS X® that makes it easier than ever for developers to create incredible apps. Designed for Cocoa® and Cocoa Touch®, Swift combines the performance and efficiency of compiled languages with the simplicity and interactivity of popular scripting languages. By design, Swift helps developers write safer and more reliable code by eliminating entire categories of common programming errors, and coexists with Objective-C® code, so developers can easily integrate Swift into their existing apps. Xcode® Playgrounds make writing Swift code incredibly interactive by instantly displaying the output of Swift code.
To make the transition from Objective-C to Swift smooth, developers can write the code such that Swift can reside side by side with Objective-C in the same application. Apple has published a 500page guide for Swift language on the iBooks store and developers can start using Swift which is available in XCode 6 beta.
At the WWDC 2014 event in San Francisco, Apple announced a number of software features for both iOS and OS X operating systems. Among these announcements was the announcement of the iCloud Drive which would help Apple establish itself in the cloud storage market.

Intel showcased world’s first 14nm fanless mobile PC reference design at the ongoing Computex 2014 in Taipei. Dubbed as Llama Mountain, the tablet is based on the company’s upcoming Broadwell processor and is runs on Windows 8.1.

Apple held its annual developer conference WWDC 2014 at San Francisco yesterday and at the event, Apple made a lot of announcements about the upcoming software features. It was unveiled back in April, went on sale few weeks back and packs a 2.8-inch (320 x 240 pixels) QVGA LCD screen, dust and splash proof keymat and loud audio output up to 103 phon output with Donau speaker. In a bid to enhance song recognition, Apple has added Shazam integration to Siri. Apple’s intelligent voice assistant will identify the song from Shazam’s database. If the user asks “What song is playing”, Siri will identify the song and ask the user to buy it from iTunes. This feature was previously leaked last month.

HTC has finally made HTC One E8 official soon after it appeared on the official website. It is a variant of the HTC One (M8) that was unveiled back in March, but this has a polycarbonate body instead of brushed aluminium finish on the One M8 and the Duo camera arrangement has been replaced by a 13-megapixel camera, similar to the Desire 816 and the One mini 2. Google has released Android 4.4.3 KitKat factory images and binaries for both the WiFi and Cellular versions of the Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and also for the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 5. This minor update brings a new dialer that Google accidentally revealed couple of months back, some visual changes to the Contacts app and several under the hood changes. With the announcement of iOS 8, Apple as usual brought to its mobile platform a lot of consumer centric features. An unexpected one amongst them was the ability to switch the default keyboard. After giving the application necessary permissions on your iPhone or iPad, replacement keyboards will have system wide access to all the services or applications.
This comes at a time when Apple themselves revealed a new keyboard for iOS 8 called QuickType. This new way to type essentially brings Windows Phone 8 like WordFlow prediction to iOS. As a part of the new “continuity” push on all of Apple’s devices and services, the Cupertino company announced a really nifty feature called “Handoff”. In pure cellular technology terms, this word is used to denote the transfer of a signal from one cell to another. Similarly, the iOS devices will be able to “Handoff” information from one form factor to the other, all thanks to intervention of the cloud and advanced local network features. While you can already accomplish some of these things, like synced notes and reminders, Apple has taken it further by not only including third party support, but also support for voice calls and imessages. Yes, you can now take calls and reply to SMSes or iMessages from your iPad running iOS 8 or even your Mac, running OS X Yosemite.
