POCO M2 Pro briefly listed on Xiaomi India website, expected to launch soon

POCO Global has been teasing the launch of new smartphone soon, and it is rumoured to be the POCO F2 Pro, a rebranded Redmi K30 Pro for the global markets. Today POCO M2 Pro, a new smartphone in the POCO’s M series briefly showed up on the Xiaomi India website with the model number M2003J6CI. Apple schedules virtual WWDC 2020 for June 22

After confirming that its 31st annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will take place in June in a new online format due COVID-19, Apple has announced that the virtual WWDC 2020 conference will begin June 22. MediaTek Helio G85 Octa-Core SoC with 1GHz Mali-G52 MC2 GPU officially announced

MediaTek has officially announced Helio G85 in the ‘G series’, which is an enhanced version of the G80 series which was announced back in February. It is targeted at mid-range gaming smartphones and features MediaTek’s HyperEngine game technology to boost the mobile gaming experience. It packs dual ARM Cortex-A75 and hexa Cortex-A55 CPUs with the ARM Mali — G52 2EEMC2 with speeds of up to 1GHz and is based on 12nm TSMC FinFET technology. Apple and Google will ban location tracking in COVID-19 exposure notification apps

Last month Apple and Google announced a joint effort to enable APIs and operating system-level technology to assist in enabling contact tracing using Bluetooth in the phones. Xiaomi to launch True Wireless Earphones in India on May 8 alongside Mi 10

Xiaomi has confirmed that it will be launching its True Wireless Earphones in India finally on May 8th. The teaser image shows the Wireless Earphones in the case. Mi AirDots Pro 2 was introduced in China back in September last year and in Europe as Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 in March this year. Xiaomi also introduced the Mi AirDots Pro 2s with a similar design, but with improved dual Bluetooth chip for a more stable connection and low latency and wireless charging. Silver Lake to invest 5,655 crore in Jio Platforms

After last month’s announcement from Facebook that said that it will buy 9.99% equity stake in Jio Platforms for $5.7 billion or INR 43,574 crore, today private equity firm Silver Lake has announced that it will invest Rs. 5,655.75 crore / US$ 747 million into Jio Platforms for 1.15% stake. This investment values Jio Platforms at an equity value of ₹ 4.90 lakh crore / US$65 billion and an enterprise value of ₹ 5.15 lakh crore and represents a 12.5% premium to the equity valuation of the Facebook investment announced on April 22, 2020. Worldwide smartphone shipments fall below 300 million, down 11.7% YoY in Q1 2020 due to COVID-19

Worldwide smartphone shipments decreased 11.7% year over year in Q2 2020, according to preliminary data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker. In total, companies shipped a 275.8 million smartphones during quarter making this is the largest annual (year over year) decline ever and the first time smartphone market has fallen below 300 million units in a quarter since Q2 2014. This is mainly due to COVID-19 pandemic and the peak of the lockdowns in China, which extended to the rest of the world by the end of the quarter. Apple reports $11.2 billion profit on $58.3 billion revenue in FY Q2 2020, iPhone sales decline due to COVID-19

Apple has reported quarterly revenue of $58.3 billion, up 1% over last year with a net profit of $11.2 billion, down 3.11% YoY and earnings per diluted share of $2.55 for the financial year Q2 2020 that ended March 28, 2020. During earnings call Tim Cook said that it has posted an all-time record Services revenue of $13.3 billion with all-time records in many of Services categories and in most countries. Reliance Jio reports Rs. 2331 crore profit, up 177.5% YoY in FY Q4 2019-20

Reliance Jio has reported Rs. 14,835 crore revenue, up 6.2% QoQ and 26.6% YoY and a net profit of 2,331  crore, up 177.5% YoY for last quarter that ended 31st March 2020. Jio reported Standalone earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 6,201 crore, up 10.7% QoQ, EBITDA margin of 41.8%, and Standalone earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of 4,033 crore, up 6.0% QoQ . Consolidated value of services stood at 17,454 crore, up 6.0% over trailing quarter. It has 388 million subscribers as of 31st March 2020, with addition of 24 million during 4QFY20. Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite with 6.47-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, Snapdragon 730G, 64MP quad rear cameras, 5260mAh battery announced

Along with the Redmi Note 9 series, Xiaomi also introduced the Mi Note 10 Lite smartphone, as it had promised. It packs a 6.47-inch Full HD+ curved AMOLED display with 3.43mm small chin, is powered by Snapdragon 730G with up to 8GB of RAM and runs Android 10 with MIUI 11. It has a 64-megapixel rear camera along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, 5-megapixel depth sensor and a 2-megapixel macro sensor.
