AMD unveils EPYC ‘Genoa’ CPUs with up to 96 Zen 4 cores and ‘Bergamo’ CPUs with up to 128 Zen 4c cores

Yesterday, AMD announced a number of new processors in their server lineup of EPYC CPUs. The 4th generation of EPYC processors will come in two segments – one codenamed ‘Genoa’ with up to 96 Zen 4 cores, and another codenamed ‘Bergamo’ with up to 128 Zen 4c cores. Along with this, AMD also announced first exascale-class GPU accelerators called AMD Instinct MI200 series accelerators.

3rd gen Apple Silicon said to use TSMC’s 3nm technology, feature up to 40 cores

Apple’s foray into making desktop-class processor was highly successful with the launch of M1. The company is reportedly working on 2nd gen and 3rd gen processors that will succeed the 1st gen M1 chips that will be built on TSMC’s 5nm and 3nm process respectively, and they are expected to outperform the equivalent future chips from Intel.

Pixel 6 Pro display flickering issue — Google confirms to fix with December update

The Google Pixel 6 Pro launched last month, featuring a QHD+ 120Hz OLED display. In the past week, multiple user reports have emerged that show a weird display flickering issue when the phone is switched off and the power button is clicked. Google has acknowledged the issue and has announced a software fix is incoming with the December software update.

Worldwide Chromebook shipments decline 29.8% YoY in Q3 2021; tablet shipments decline 9.4%: IDC

Following the declining shipments trend of the worldwide smartphone market, the worldwide market for Chromebooks and tablets recorded a decline of 29.8% YoY and 9.4% YoY respectively during Q3 2021. In a report released by the International Data Corporation, the amount of Chromebooks shipped were 6.5 million units while the amount of tablets shipped were 42.3 million units.
