TECNO CAMON 50 Ultra 5G Unboxing and First Impressions


TECNO launched the CAMON 50 Ultra 5G, the company’s latest 5G smartphone in the CAMON 50 series in India today. Here we have the unboxing and the first impressions of the smartphone.

The phone has a 6.78-inch (2644 × 1208 pixels) 1.5K 3D curved AMOLED screen with 144Hz refresh rate. The screen is bright since it has up to 4500 nits peak brightness. There is 2304Hz PWM Dimming. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 7i Protection.

There is a 50MP front camera inside the tiny punch hole, and the phone supports up to 4K 30 fps video recording. The earpiece is present on the top edge that doubles up as a secondary speaker. It supports Dolby Atmos audio. There is a small bezel below the screen. It has an in-display optical fingerprint scanner.

The phone runs Android 16 with HiOS 16 on top, and the company has promised 3 Android updates and 5 years of security updates for the phone.  The smartphone includes the complete TECNO AI suite, which introduces several tools intended to streamline media creation and daily smartphone interactions: An upgraded Ella smart assistant, AI Image-to-Video generator, 3D PhotoSpace, and AI LightMaster 2.0.

Under the hood, the TECNO CAMON 50 Ultra 5G is powered by the Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset. It has support for several 5G bands, has 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage.

Coming to button placements, the power button is present on the right along with volume rockers. A one-tap AI key is present on the left side. The dual SIM slot, primary microphone, USB Type-C port, and the loudspeaker grill are present on the bottom. The secondary microphone is on the top along with the IR blaster and speaker vent.

The CAMON 50 Ultra 5G features a versatile triple-camera system designed to handle a wide range of lighting conditions and focal lengths:

  • Primary Camera: A 50-megapixel Sony LYT-700C sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). It utilizes a 1/1.56-inch sensor size to maximize light intake and improve low-light performance.
  • Telephoto Lens: A 50-megapixel sensor offering 3x optical zoom for portrait and distance photography.
  • Ultrawide Lens: An 8-megapixel sensor for broader field-of-view shots with macro option

To complement the hardware, the device incorporates AI 100x SuperZoom alongside Super-Zoom FlashSnap technology, aimed at stabilizing and clarifying subjects at high magnifications. Additional camera software includes Live Photo support and a dedicated Underwater Photography mode for creative versatility. The rear camera supports up to 4K 30fps videos. The CAMON 50 Ultra introduces a “Silk-Flow” design that offers a smooth matte finish. The back also has Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The device features comprehensive environmental protection, carrying IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for resistance against dust, prolonged water submersion, and high-pressure water jets.

Additionally, the phone holds a MIL-STD-810 military-grade certification, indicating it has passed rigorous testing for durability against drops, shocks, and everyday physical stress.

In addition to Cypress Green color that we have, the phone also comes in Misty Purple and Nebula Titanium colors. You can see the red-colored indicator light above the flash. The device packs a high-capacity 6500mAh battery, paired with 45W fast charging capabilities, designed to provide comprehensive all-day usage.

The TECNO CAMON 50 Ultra 5G is priced at Rs. 39,999. It will be available from Amazon.in starting from July 21st at 12 noon. There is a Rs. 3,000 coupon discount for the first 2 days, so the effective price is Rs. 36,999.
