LG had announced its third iteration of the budget friendly L series just prior to the MWC 2014. At the MWC 2014, LG had showcased these products and among the recently announced devices was the LG L65. LG L65 is a typical midrange offering keeping in mind the budget buyers. It comes with a layer of LG UI features over midrange specifications.
Just before the MWC 2014, LG had announced three smartphones in the LG L series – LG L40, LG L70 and LG L90. As you can see, the LG L70 is the mid-range offering among the three, in terms of features, size and pricing. At MWC 2014, LG showcased its recently announced devices and we managed to spend sometime with the LG L70 smartphone.
One of the hottest new devices at the Mobile World Congress this year was the Galaxy S5. Coming from the Galaxy S4, the phone isn’t as big an update as people were hoping for. Among the Android smartphones that it announced,the Acer Liquid Z4 is an interesting budget smartphone with entry range specifications. As a typical entry range device, it is powered by a MediaTek processor.

ZTE, a leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has a booth at the MWC 2014 event in Barcelona and they are showcasing their latest smartphones. ZTE had launched a mini version of their flagship – ZTE Nubia 5S sometime in December and now, they are here at MWC 2014 to showcase the products to global consumers.

ZTE is one of those Chinese manufacturers which competes at the highest level. ZTE is present at the MWC 2014 event in Barcelona and they are showcasing their smartphones and they have on display, their current flagship – ZTE Nubia 5S. The ZTE Nubia 5S has top of the shelf specifications and is fully equipped to compete with the big boys like Samsung, Sony and LG in terms of specs.
Amongst the high spec devices launched by Sony, the M2 emerged as the device aimed at the mid range segment. The phone that has a design language decidedly similar to the flagship Z2. The front of the phone has a large 4.8 inch display that has a resolution of 540×960 pixels. First impressions with the hardware definitely left a positive impression as we quite liked the solid construction. HTC is having a presence at the MWC 2014 despite not launching its flagship smartphone here. At the event, HTC launched a couple of mid-range Android smartphones – HTC Desire 816 and HTC Desire 610. Among the two, the HTC Desire 610 is the more humbly speced device with a moderate spec sheet.
HTC is holding an event at the MWC 2014 where it will not be announcing its next flagship, but it hasn’t come empty handed. HTC has just announced a couple of Android smartphones. One among the two is the HTC Desire 816. HTC Desire 816 is the International variant of the HTC Desire 8 which HTC had announced a few weeks back in China. We are live from the event and we managed to get a few photos of the HTC Desire 816.
HTC’s announcements at the Mobile World Congress revolved around their Desire series of handsets. The two devices announced ie the Desire 816 and 610 vary wildly in their target audience but do emphasize the focus on quality that HTC has maintained despite aiming to reach ever lower price points. The upper end device of the two ie the Desire 816 is the most powerful phone in the Desire series of phones and opts for a design that closely mimics the flagship ie the HTC One. Sony has announced its new range of Android products as well as its flagship device ie the Xperia Z2 here at Mobile World Congress. The phone is more of an iterative update than a complete reimagining of the Xperia Z1 and so manages to maintain the same design identity. The design continues to be a combination of glass and brushed aluminum and looks absolutely stunning. That said, the tempered glass back is also extremely susceptible to fingerprints.
