MWC 2011 : Nokia Event Summary

Nokia’s presence in Barcelona for MWC 2011 is subdued to say the least. Their Friday announcement regarding having Windows Phone software as their primary platform has ruffled up more than a few feathers. LG Announces Their New Android Offerings Optimus 3D and Optimus Pad at MWC 2011

LG Mobile just announced the launch of two new flagship devices at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The LG Optimus 3D is a super smartphone which comes with 3D capabilities. The smartphone comes with a 1GHz OMAP4 processor which brings extended graphics capabilities to the palm of your hand. Andy Rubin Shows Off Honeycomb And Motorola Tablet

Over at the Dive Into Mobile conference in San Francisco , Andy Rubin from Google just showed off Android 3.0. Android 3.0 or Honeycomb is the next big version of the mobile operating system scheduled to hit the market sometime next year. It is said to come with a UI optimized for tablet computers.

Garmin-Asus Launches A10 In India

Garmin , one of the most popular GPS Navigation system manufacturers in the world, has teamed up with Asus to bring several cellphones with top-notch GPS performance. Their latest model , the A10 , is now being released in India. It runs on the Android 2.1 OS. The phone is upgradeable to Froyo ie Android 2.2 and will get an update soon.

Panasonic Lumix Phone With 13.2 MP Camera Outed

Panasonic Lumix , the makers of high quality cameras , have just revealed their new camera oriented cellphone. The device which is supposed to run on Japan’s NTT DoCoMo network. The screen on the device is a 3.3 inch LCD touch display. The phone weighs 146gms and is slightly large at 17.7mm thickness, to go along with a 116mm height and 52mm width. Local connectivity options include Bluetooth and WiFi with DLNA support.

The phone has a slider form factor and comes with a 13.2 MP camera which is said to be best in class. Color options include black, pink, blue, and gold. We are still waiting for more information about the operating system on the device.

LG Windows 7 Phone Series prototype shown off


Microsoft’s Aaron Woodman showed off the much rumored LG Windows 7 Series Smartphone during a live tech show to Engadget. The device is a QWERTY slider with a fairy large AMOLED screen. It also incorporates a 5MP camera with led flash. The Camera can reportedly do 720o video recording .The device has dedicated hardware camera, volume, and power buttons in addition to the back, home, and search buttons as specified by Windows Phone 7 Series standards. Specific details regarding the processor powering the device were not available but as dictated by Windows 7 Series standards , we expect to see atleast 1Ghz Snapdragon processor. Acer Liquid launches in India – Live Pics

New Delhi – Smartphone manufacturer Acer recently held an event in the capital announcing the launch of is new Android based smartphone , the Acer Liquid. The PC maker’s new smartphone runs the Android 1.6 or Donut OS. It is based on the Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm. The phone comes with a price tag of Rs. 24,900.
