
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released draft regulations on Standards of Quality of Service for Mobile Data Services Regulations. There is no quality of service standards for the mobile data services compared to wired Internet such as broadband. TRAI has decided to benchmark the quality of service parameters for mobile data services such as 2G, 3G and the 4G LTE services based on BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) spectrum. Vodafone officially announces new 3G data plans

Vodafone has officially announced its new 3G data plans. Vodafone reduced its 3G tariffs for pre-paid customers last month, but the plans were not clear. Later they announced post-paid 3G plans that were applicable only in select circles. These new plans start from Rs. 25 for 25 MB data usage and go up to Rs. 1599 for 12 GB of data usage. Reliance Communications (RCOM) has partnered with BIGFlix, a part of Reliance Group’s digital entertainment business to offer full length movies to Reliance 3G subscribers at Rs. 30 per movie. MTS launches MTag 401 Android smartphone with bundled offers for Rs. 8999

MTS has launched MTS MTag 401, their new Android phone with new bundled data and on-net calls. It has 4.0-inch (800×480 pixels) capacitive touch-display with a resolution of 233 PPI and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). MTNL Mumbai revises 3G tariffs, launches new plans

MTNL Mumbai has revised their old 3G tariffs and have also launched new plans for both pre-paid and post-paid customers. The Rs. 99 plan now offers 300 MB of 3G data, Rs. 250 offers 1.1GB of 3G data, Rs. 450 plan offers 2.2 GB of data and the Rs 750 plan offers 4.4 GB that are valid for 30 days. Vodafone new 3G post-paid plans

Vodafone has reduced the price of their 3G plans for post-paid customers as well. They launched new 3G plans for pre-paid customers last week. Rs. 100 plan now offers 300MB of 3G data usages similar to the new pre-paid plan. Rs. 200 plans offers 500MB and the Rs. 375 plan now offers 1.5GB of 3G data that was previously 1GB. Samsung Galaxy Y CDMA now available in India for Rs. 7490

Samsung Galaxy Y CDMA is now available in India from online retailer Flipkart. Samsung launched the Galaxy Y in India last October and the Dual-SIM Galaxy Y Duos earlier this February. It has 3-inch (320 x 240 Pixels) display similar to the GSM version but has 600 MHz processor instead of 832 MHz processor and comes with a 2 MP camera at the back. Reliance launches new 3G Netconnect data plans

Reliance Communications (RCOM) has launched new Netconnect 3G data plan called My Best Plan, that is said to offer over 90% saving per month compared to other plans available in the market. The My Best Plan would offer 1 GB 3G data for Rs. 250 per month and 2 GB of 3G data for Rs. 450 per month and 6 GB of 3G data at speeds upto 21Mbps for Rs. 1250 and unlimited usage (speed throttled to 64 Kbps) beyond 6 GB at no extra cost. Airtel partners with Qualcomm to bring 4G to Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala

Bharti Airtel has announced an agreement to acquire 49% interest in Qualcomm Asia Pacific’s (Qualcomm AP) India BWA entities. Under this Agreement, Bharti has made US$ 165 million approx investment to acquire Qualcomm AP’s India BWA licenses in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala. Qualcomm won BWA Spectrum in these circles in 2010 by paying about USD 1 billion approx to acquire it. Now Idea too reduces 3G Tariffs

Idea Cellular has also reduced 3G tariffs followed by Aircel, Airtel and Vodafone. They launched 3G services in India last March and Double Data offer later that offered twice the data for select plans. Idea has reduced 3G rate up to 70% would offer on the go data rates at 3p/10 KB for pre-paid and post-paid users. Reliance to roll out 4G network in India in partnership with HFCL

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) plans to roll out 4G network in India in partnership with Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd (HFCL) according to Economic Times. Reliance Industries bought 95% stake in Infotel Broadband in June 2010 which is is the only firm to win broadband spectrum in all 22 circles in India.
