Nokia’s device division might be acquired by Microsoft soon, but that hasn’t stopped the company from bringing back its mobility vision in computers back into its portfolio. We saw the yesteryear Booklet 3G, which was one of the very few notebooks that could use a SIM and now we see a similar vision in the LTE enabled Lumia 2520, one of the first tablets to launch without a WiFi-only variant. It’s a bold step by Nokia, wanting to fill the void created by WiFi only tablets that are seemingly used only at home. Launching it with a beautiful power keyboard as an accessory for some extra bucks, the tablet envisions portable productivity with standard Nokia influences in hardware showing off. We took the Lumia 2520 for a spin in front of our camera, so here is a photo gallery, for your viewing pleasure.

Nokia Lumia 2520 Windows RT 8.1 tablet announced – 10.1″ full HD, 32 GB, LTE and 11 hour battery life

The Nokia Lumia 2520 has been officially launched at the Nokia World event in Abu Dhabi today. The Windows RT tablet from Nokia has been leaked before, and has since been much awaited for a long time. But now Nokia has made it clear that they are in the tablet market and are aiming to make the device more mobile than other tablets have been. Stephen Elop specifically mentioned in the keynote how Nokia is targeting the usage times that the traditional tablets cannot work in, like during the day other than mornings or evenings, by adding 4G LTE functionality, better portability and better battery life. The 10.1 tablet, running on Windows RT is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 – MSM8974 chipset which provides the LTE functionality as well as blazing fast Quad Core performance for the Lumia 2520. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition launched in India for Rs. 49990

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) (SM-P601)  in India. It was announced at the IFA 2013 last month as an upgrade to the last year’s Note 10.1 that was launched in India as Galaxy Note 800. It packs a 10.1-inch (2560×1600 pixels) TFT LCD display, powered by a 1.9 GHz quad-core Exynos 5 Octa processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) with Samsung TouchWiz UI on top. It has a 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash, BSI sensor and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with a S Pen stylus with a lot of features such as S Note(Easy Chart), S Planner and Air Command: Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder, Pen Window.

iBall Slide 3G 8072, a new tablet in the Slide series is now available in India from online retailer Flipkart. It has a 8-inch (1024 x 768 pixels) multi-touch display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 2-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing camera. Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ tablet gets a temporary price cut in India, now starts from Rs. 17999


The Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7″ tablet got a price cut in India last month, now Amazon has reduced the price of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ tablet as a part of limited period festive offer. It was announced last year and was launched in India back in June at a price of Rs. Rs. 21,999  and Rs. 25,999 for the 16GB and 32GB variants respectively . It has a 8.9-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) display with 254 ppi, powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core OMAP4470 CPU with 299 MHz PowerVR SGX544 GPU and  runs on a forked version of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Kobo, popular for its eReaders has launched the Kobo Arc, an Android tablet along with range of eReaders in India. The Kobo Arc has a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) touch screen IPS display at 215 ppi, powered by a 1.5 GHZ dual-core Ti OMAP processor and runs on Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean). It comes with a 1.3-megapixel HD front-facing camera and comes with Kobo eReading app and option to buy books from Kobo store. It also has Google Play Store to download apps and games. New iPad and iPad Mini reportedly go on sale starting October 30th or 31st

It’s now public knowledge that Apple is organizing an event on October 22 for a refresh of the iPad and the iPad mini along with a refresh for the Macbook Pros too, but reports are now coming in that the availability of these new products will be very close to launch. A report from french site MacG pegs the availability dates for the new iPads, including the new retina mini for October 30th or 31st. This is in line with most Apple launches, and going with the track record of MacG we assume this data is correct.

Lava has launched the E-Tab Ivory, a new tablet with voice calling support in the E-Tab range. The E-Tab E-Tab Z7C+ (Connect+) with voice calling support went on sale recently, but this has a dual SIM support similar to the Micromax Funbook Mini P410 that went on sale earlier this month.  It has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core MediaTek MT8377  processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has dual SIM cars slots with 3G support, voice calling and SMS.  These is a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It has a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) multi-touch IPS display, powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor with ULP GeForce GPUand runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and packs a 4000 mAh battery. Xolo launched the Xolo Tab last month powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 and voice calling, but this lacks 3G support or voice calling. Datawind, the company behind the low-cost Aakash tablets has launched three new tablets, UbiSlate 7Cx, UbiSlate 3G7 and the UbiSlate 9Ci. The UbiSlate 7Cx is the cheapest among these, which comes with a 7-inch capactive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor and runs on Android 4.0 (ICS). It also comes with 2G (EDGE) connectivity. The UbiSlate 3G7 also has a 7-inch capactive touch screen display, powered by  a 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 processor and runs on Android 4.0 (ICS).
