Amazon Kindle Fire HD gets a price cut in India, now available for Rs. 11,999

Amazon just announced their new series of Kindle Fire HDX and now we are seeing a price cut on the existing model of Kindle Fire HD in India. Originally, the 16GB version Kindle Fire HD was available for Rs. 15,999 and now it is available for Rs. 11,999 (while the 32GB version is now available for Rs. 15,999). The price cut comes just ahead of the launch of new generation Kindle Fires.

It has a 10.1 inch (1024 x 600 pixels) LED-backlit 16:9 capacitive multi-touch screen, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Cortex A7 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It  has a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It is 11.6mm thick, has 1GB DDR3 RAM, 8GB of storage and supports 32GB extendable memory through Micro SD card. Amazon has also upgraded the Kindle Fire HD along with the a faster 1.5 GHz dual-core processor. It has a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) display with a slightly better resolution than last year’s Kindle Fire HD and runs on the new Fire OS 3.0 Mojito based on Android Jelly Bean. It comes with 1GB of RAM and comes in 8GB and 16GB vairants. It doesn’t have LTE support like the Kindle fire HDX tablets. This has a has a 8.9-inch ( 2560 x 1600 pixels) display, powered by a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on the new Fire OS 3.0 Mojito based on Android Jelly Bean. It has a 8-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing 720p HD camera. It also comes with built-in dual microphones and Dual stereo speakers with Dolby Digital Plus audio and virtual 5.1 multi-channel surround sound. It has 2GB of RAM and comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants similar to the 7-inch variant. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 211 Benchmarks

Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab 3 211, the company’s latest 7-inch tablet in India back in July. We brought you the unboxing of the device last week, here we have the benchmarks of the tablet. It is powered by a dual-core Marvell PXA986 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and Vivante GC1000 GPU. The last year’s Tab 2 was powered by a dual-core TI OMAP 4430 processor. Since this is a mid-range SoC, we can’t expect performance like the Exynos 4 Quad (4412) CPU present in the Note 8.0. Let’s check out how it performs when compared to ther other tablets in various synthetic benchmark tests.

HP has announced two new mid-range Android tablets along with the Slate 7 Extreme and Slate 8 Pro powered by Tegra 4. These tablets come with 7-inch and 10-inch display at a resolution of 1280 x 800. These tablets are powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Cortex A9  Marvell PXA986 processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). These also have  front and rear cameras. Now the company has announced two new devices, Slate 7 Extreme and Slate 8 Pro powered by a Tegra 4 Cortex-A15 processor with 72-core GeForce GPU. The Slate 7 Extreme has a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) display, while the Slate 8 Pro comes with a 7.98-inch (1600 x 1200 pixels) display. It is manufactured by a contract partner and would be sold thorough several partners across the world including India. The Tegra Note has a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) IPS display with support for NVIDIA DirectStylus technology that bring stylus support to low-cost tablets. It is powered by a 1.8GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 CPU and runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) with OTA updates directly from NVIDIA. Micromax has launched the Canvas Tab P650, the company’s first tablet in the Canvas series. It has a 8-inch (1024 x 768 pixels) multi-touch display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with 720p HD video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has 3G support via a SIM card slot and has voice calling capabilities.

It comes pre-loaded with Opera mini browser,  Spuul to watch free movies online, Music Hub to get access to songs online and M! Live  to download HD/premium games. The M! Security app lets you Back-Up the phone Tracke the tab remotely and Anti-Virus features. It also comes with Look away to pause, Video pinning, pop-up browser and OTA update support similar to the latest Canvas smartphones. This tab would compete with the recently launched Xolo Tab.

I was in Berlin, Germany for IFA 2013 last week and managed to pick an LTE version of the Nexus 7 2013 which is currently on sale only in a few countries including Germany and UK. We had already unboxed the WiFi only version previous on FoneArena and like always we are always excited about any device with a SIM card slot and here we have the unboxing of the Nexus 7 2013 LTE version.

Tablets to outship PCs for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2013 – IDC

Tablets had been somewhat of a conundrum before Apple came up with the iPad. Only then, it made sense for people to approve and acknowledge a different kind of a computer that swiftly replaced the netbooks of our era. But was it ever enough to replace or outsell the traditional PC and Laptops? Well, according to IDC, the company that constantly releases numbers on the Smartphone market, the last quarter of this year will mark the first time ever that the tablets will outship Traditional PCs, including Desktops as well as Laptops. Intel introduces Atom Z3000 Series SoC for Tablets and Hybrids

Intel has announced the Atom Z3000 Series SoC at the IDF 2013. This was previously called Bay Trail-T and was first announced in May, which is based on 22nm Silvermont Microarchitecture. This supports Android and full Windows 8 operating systems on mobile devices including tablets. The 22nm tri-gate transistors offers high performance and improves the efficiency and power sharing across the CPU and GPU, including graphics, camera and display processes.
