Amazon introduces new Fire HD 8 with hands-free Alexa support, Fire OS 6

Amazon has introduced its 8th Generation Fire HD 8 for this year. This is almost similar specifications as the previous Fire HD 8 model, but this comes with Alexa hands-free that lets you ask Alexa to play a song, pause a movie, video call a friend or family member, and more—using only your voice, even when your screen is on standby. It has a new 2-megapixel front camera, up from VGA in the previous generation, and also runs new  Fire OS 6, but it is still based on Android Nougat.

Lenovo Tab E7, Tab E8, Tab E10, Tab M10 and Tab P10 Android tablets announced

Lenovo has introduced five new tablets – Tab E7, Tab E8, Tab E10, Tab M10 and Tab P10, including a Android Oreo (Go Edition) tablet. The entry-level Lenovo Tab E7 runs Android Oreo Go Edition, has a  7-inch screen, 10.33mm thin frame and promises up to 5 hours of video watching. Tab E8 has an 8-inch HD display, supports by Dolby Atmos, has a slim and light profile at 8.9mm thin and weighing  320g, while offering up to 10 hours of local video playback.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus with 10.1-inch display, Snapdragon 660, 4G LTE, fingerprint sensor, 8620mAh battery announced

Xiaomi introduced the Mi Pad 4 back in June, today it has introduced the Mi Pad 4 Plus, a larger version with a 10.1-inch WUXGA screen with 16:10 aspect ratio, fingerprint sensor on the front, in addition to AI face unlock present in the Mi Pad 4, up to 128GB storage and a large 8620mAh battery. Worldwide tablet shipments declined 13.5% in Q2 2018, Apple and Samsung continue to lead: IDC

According to IDC, worldwide tablet market declined 13.5% in Q2 2018 as global shipments fell to 33 million. Slate tablets accounted for the majority of the market with 28.4 million units, which is down 14.5% from the previous year. On the other hand, the detachable tablets also declined during the quarter largely due to the high-profile product launches in the Q2 of 2017 and the absence of timely updates to those products in 2Q18. Along with the Galaxy Tab S4, Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Tab A (2018) with a 10.5-inch WUXGA display. It is powered by Snapdragon 450 with 3GB of RAM, runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) and comes with quad-speakers built into each corner of the tablet with support from Dolby Atmos. Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 with 10.5-inch WQXGA Super AMOLED display, Iris Scanner, S Pen, 4G LTE announced

Samsung has announced the Galaxy Tab S4, successor of last year’s Galaxy Tab S3, as expected. It has a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED WQXGA screen, is powered by a Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 SoC and runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo). It has quad-stereo speakers tuned by AKG by HARMAN, similar to the predecessor and comes with an an enhanced S Pen. It has got rid of the fingerprint scanner and the home button on the front for Iris scanner.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 with 8-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 660, 4G LTE, AI Face unlock announced

Xiaomi has finally announced the Mi Pad 4, as it had promised. It has an 8-inch Full HD screen with 16:10 aspect ratio, and the company says that it is 9.4% smaller than the previous generation making it comfortable for one-handed usage. Global tablet shipments continue to decline, down 11.7% YoY in Q1 2018 : IDC

Global tablet market continues to decline, and in the first quarter of 2018 (1Q18), it declined 11.7% year over year with total shipments of 31.7 million units, according to the latest report from International Data Corporation (IDC). Detachable tablets like the Microsoft Surface and iPad Pro saw over 2.9% YoY growth by grabbing 15.3% share, but the traditional slate tablets continued to decline with 26.8 million unit shipments, down 13.9% from the prior year. Indian tablet Shipments decline by 11% in 2017, Lenovo leads with 26.1% share: IDC

Indian tablet market has yet again seen a dip by 11% in 2017, according to International Data Corporation’s (IDC) Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 with 4G VoLTE launched in India for Rs. 9500

Samsung has launched Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (SM-T285), a new tablet in India with 4G support and voice calling capability. It was originally introduced as Galaxy Tab A 2016 a couple of years back, has a 7-inch WXGA screen, is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2017 Review

Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) in India back in October this year. This comes after the Galaxy Tab A 2016 that was introduced last year but the company did not decide to launch that in India, after the Samsung Tab A (SM-T355Y) that we had reviewed back in 2015. This comes with support for voice calling capabilities similar to earlier tablets in the ‘Tab A’ series, but this is the first to include VoLTE support. It also packs a huge 5000mAh battery.
