Lava E-Tab XTRON Unboxing

Lava released the Etab-XTRON, their first Android tablet running on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) earlier this month. Here we have the unboxing of the tablet. It has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) capacitive multi-touch IPS display and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core RockChip RK3066 Cortex A9 processor and Mali-400 MP GPU.

LG Optimus G launching in Europe this month

LG has announced that that the Optimus G would be available in European countries starting from this month. The Optimus G global roll out started last month and announced that the device would be available in over 50 countries including Latin America, Asia, CIS, Middle East and Africa worldwide by Q1 2013. Ubuntu Developer Preview for Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, 7 and 10 now available

Canonical has finally released the developer preview of Ubuntu Touch Developer Preview for phones and tablets as they promised. All you need is a computer running on Ubuntu OS and any of these Nexus devices, the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 or the Nexus 10. There are images and complete instructions for installation. Qualcomm details Snapdragon 400 and 200 processors


Qualcomm unveiled the new range of Snapdragon processors including the Snapdragon 800, 600, 400 and 200 series at the International CES 2013.  They did not reveal the specifications for the Snapdragon 400 and Snapdragon 200 series at the event last month. Videocon A27 Dual SIM Smartphone with 4-inch display, Android 4.0 launched for Rs. 5999

Videocon has released their new Android smartphone, the Videocon A27. It has a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz Broadcom processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It has dual SIM support with dual standby, comes with a 3MP rear camera and also packs a VGA front-facing camera for video calling over 3G. It comes with pre-loaded apps like TOI, ET, Facebook, Saavn, Fun Zone, Movie Studio and more. LG Optimus G Pro Dual Recording and VR Panorama features shown off in new videos

LG unveiled the Optimus G Pro last week and detailed the features of the smartphone earlier this week. LG has released new videos on their Korean YouTube channel that shows off Dual Recording and VR Panorama camera features. ZTE to launch Tegra 4-powered Smartphones by mid-2013


ZTE has announced that they would launch smartphones that are powered by the latest Nvidia Tegra 4 processors. Nvidia announced the Tegra 4 processor with 72 GPU cores and 4 ARM A15 CPU cores at the CES 2013 last month. The Tegra 4 chip supports 4G LTE voice and data through Icera i500 modem, and ZTE also have plans to launch LTE smartphone with LTE support . LG Optimus F5 and Optimus F7 with 4G LTE, dual-core processor, Android 4.1 announced

LG has finally announced the Optimus F Series phones. LG started teasing a new Optimus series for the MWC 2013 earlier this month. These phones have 4G LTE support and would offer premium user experience for the mass market. The LG Optimus F5 has a 4.3-inch (960 × 540 pixels) IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz Dual-Core processor and the Optimus F7 has a 4.7-inch (1280 × 720 pixels) True HD IPS display and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor. Both these phones run on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) and comes with unique features such as QSlide, Live Zooming, QuickMemo, QTranslator, Video Wiz, Safety Care and more. Videocon Mobile Services has launched 6 new SuperNet 2G data plans. Videocon says that these SuperNet plans offers upto 3 times more internet data than other service providers. These are aimed at bringing connectivity, entertainment and knowledge for the emerging Indian market, especially the students and working professionals. Intex Aqua Style with 5.9-inch display, 1 GHz dual-core processor launched for Rs. 11200

Intex has launched the Aqua Style, a new Android smartphone in the Aqua series with a 5.9-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display. It is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).  It has a 8MP auto focus camera with LED flash at the back and a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video calling. Qualcomm releases Snapdragon BatteryGuru app for Android

Xiam Technologies Limited, a division of Qualcomm has released Battery Guru (Beta) application for Android that promises to extend the battery life on the Snapdragon-powered Android devices by optimizing the device functionality. It doesn’t require manual configuration and runs in the background. After the 2 to 4 day introduction period, it learns the user’s behaviors and then notifies that it is ready to extend the battery life. Ubuntu for Tablets announced, Developer Preview for Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 coming on February 21

Canonical has announced the Ubuntu for Tablets. It has unique side stage that places a phone and a tablet app on the same screen at the same time, providing true multitasking capabilities. Other main features include, secure multi-user support with full encryption, Voice controlled HUD, edge magic for navigation between apps, settings and controls. Ubuntu for phones was announced last month, and the developer preview for Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4 are expected later this week. Hands on with the HTC One

HTC have been having a rough couple of quarters to say the least. Falling marketshare, dwindling margins and revenue, vanishing stock price compounded by a domineering samsung in the Android space has been hard on them. Yet, they’ve managed to release top device after top device, all to find that the market hasn’t been as taken by their devices as the technology media have.
