Gionee has started teasing the Gpad 4, the company’s upcoming smartphone in the Gpad series on their Facebook page. Unlike the other phones in the Gpad series, the Gpad 4 is a large screen phablet. It has a  5.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD one-glass solution (OGS) display, powered by a  1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek 6589T processor with PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 28mm wide angle lens. It has aluminium body, packs a 3200 mAh battery and comes with in-built Digital Theatre System (DTS) Sound. Tegra Note tablet with NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor goes on pre-order in the US and UK

NVIDIA announced the Tegra Note back in September. The tablet is designed by NVIDIA and is manufactured by several partners  in range of countries worldwide. NVIDIA has announced that the Tegra Note is available for pre-order in the U.S and U.K. It is manufactured by EVGA in the U.S. and ADVENT in the UK. NVIDIA has also partnered with PNY Technologies in North America, ADVENT, EVGA, Oysters and ZOTAC in Europe, Gigabyte, Shenzhen Homecare Technology and ZOTAC in Asia-Pacific and XOLO in India to sell the device. Windows Phone surges ahead while Android still dominates in Q3 2013 – IDC

Windows Phone has been moving ahead in the platform race for the couple of quarter in the year. In the first quarter of 2013, we saw the Windows Phone OS leap ahead of BlackBerry OS with 3.2% market share and in the second quarter we saw the Windows Phone OS posting the fastest growth with 3.7% market. The Q3 2013 results reveal that the the Windows Phone OS is still growing with 3.6% market share globally, primarily driven by the support of Nokia. Android still dominates the market with 81% share, with 211.6 device shipments. It has grown by 1.7% ,compared to last quarter and has increased 51.3% YoY.

Gionee GPad G3 went on sale online last month, now the company has officially launched the smartphone in India. It is the successor of the GPad G2 that was launched back in May and packs a 5.5-inch (854 × 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Intex launched the Cloud Z5 in the Cloud Z series back in June, now the Cloud Z6 has surfaced on the official website. It has a 5-inch (480×854 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It has Dual SIM (GSM + GSM) with Dual Standby and comes with 2G (EDGE) support. Other than the display resolution and the software, most of the specifications are similar to its predecessor. ANS Navigator App now available on Google Play Store

ANS and NNG, providers of GPS Navigation Hardware have launched the new ANS Navigator application for Android phones. The turn by turn navigation application that was previously available only for iOS devices is now on the Play Store and comes with mapping data for India that is as recent as Q2 2013. Lenovo Vibe Z (K910), the company’s latest flagship smartphone surfaced in China last month. Now the phone is official in China through Lenovo’s website. It has a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS  display at 400 PPI, powered by a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with Vibe ROM on top. ZTE nubia 5 went on sale in the U.S. last month, now the press invite for the nubia 5S has arrived. The nubia 5S  is set to launch on November 19th in Beijing Prosper Center. According to earlier leaks, the Nubia 5S is rumored to feature a 5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU and run on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). Apple unveiled the Retina iPad mini  along with the iPad Air at an event last month. The iPad Air went on sale in range of countries on November 1st, but the launch date of the new iPad mini was unknown, now the Apple has started selling the Retina iPad mini from the Apple online stores in range of countries. The new iPad mini has similar specifications as the iPad Air, except for the display and battery. It has a 7.9 inch Retina Display with 2048×1536 resolution, new A7 64 bit processor and runs on the latest iOS 7. Xiaomi sells 380,000 devices in a few hours on Singles day in China

Xiaomi, the company that has recently been in the spotlight for a wide variety of reasons, has just sold 380,000 devices in just a few hours on Singles day in China. A quick TIL fact – Singles day in China is a massive day for shopping, like, for example Diwali in India or Thanksgiving, in the US. It has been reported that this day is perhaps better(in terms of sales) than the Cyber Monday that the US observes. The day, also known as the “Anti-Valentines” day, majorly consisting of singles from all around China having parties and such, spurs shopping of around 2 billion US dollars all over the country, and Xiaomi seems to have nicely stocked up for the demand, as you can see from the image above, taken by the International Chief and previously VP of Android, Hugo Barra.

UC Browser on Windows Phone now supports background downloads

UC Browser, one of the best third party browsers on Windows Phone has received an update to support background downloads. The default browser – Internet Explorer doesn’t even support downloads, but UC browser shone as the only third party browser on Windows Phone that could, and it downloaded any file type, even MP3s and let you save them inside your Xbox music app. Previously, one needed to wait for the download to get completed before moving on to another app, but that was mainly due to a reasonable restriction on tightly integrated OSes like Windows Phone and iOS. But since WP8 and more recently GDR3, Microsoft has been a bit lenient and had opened up more options for developers to take advantage of. UC Browser does exactly that by allowing background downloads for the first time on Windows Phone.

Motorola Moto G press images surface, listings reveal price

Motorola recently announced an event on November 13th for the Moto G launch. The phone appeared on the Amazon UK and Tesco listing before it was pulled. Specifications of the Moto G surfaced last week, according to the rumors, the Moto G is expected to pack a 4.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) edge-to-edge display at 329 ppi with Corning Gorilla Glass protection, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor and run on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean).
