Samsung has announced that it has started selling unlocked versions of its flagshipGalaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones in the US. These don’t have any bloatware that are available in the versions sold by the carriers. Both the phones were introduced back in February earlier this year and was launched in India in March. iBall has launched Andi 5G Blink 4G, it’s latest 4G smartphone which is also the company’s first smartphone running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It has a 5-inch FWVGA screen, is powered by a quad-core MediaTek SoC, has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Xiaomi just launched its Mi Max phablet in India at an event in Delhi. It was announced in China last month, packs a 6.44-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by an Hexa-Core Snapdragon 650 or Octa-Core Snapdragon 652 SoC, runs on MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), has a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. LeEco has announced that it has made Rs 78.6 crore by achieving sales orders of over 61,000 units of Le 2 and Le Max2 smartphones in the first flash sale on both LeMall.com India and Flipkart, beating the industry records set by itself a few months ago. Both the phones received a total registration over 6 lakh within 8 days. “LeEco is also the first brand which released two flagship phones with Qualcomm processors in the same day,” said the company. Freecharge, the digital wallet and payment platform in India, has introduced its new desktop app for Microsoft’s latest operating system Windows 10. The company claims that the unified Freecharge app on Windows can complete a transaction in just less-than-10 seconds and is designed to provide seamless experience across desktop, laptops and tablets. It has a 5-inch 1080p screen with 2.5D curved glass display, 72.1% screen-to-body ratio, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 SoC and runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Laser autofocus and has a 13-megapixel front-facing camera, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) for quick focus in 0.1 seconds and LED flash. It’s a virtual war in India’s burgeoning smartphone market especially in the mid-segment category, where most smartphone manufacturers see growth coming from. A research report from Cyber Media Research (CMR), suggests that for the first time in India, the average selling price of smartphones rose 25% year-on-year, with the mid-range category, 10-15k becoming more popular to beat the budget category, 6-8k.
