Indian Government bans 59 Chinese apps including TikTok, Shareit and UC Browser [Update: TikTok Responds]

Update: June 30, 2020 – Few hours after the announcement by the government, TikTok, Helo and more apps have been removed from the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store. Today TikTok has released a statement that it continues to comply with all data privacy and security requirements under Indian law and has not shared any user data with any foreign government, including the Chinese Government. It has been invited to meet with concerned government stakeholders for an opportunity to respond and submit their clarifications. Snap Inc. the makers of Snapchat are finally launching its Spectacles 2 and Spectacles 3 with built-in camera in India on Flipkart on July 4th priced at Rs. 14,999 and Rs. 29,999, respectively.
