Today we unbox the Xolo Play Tab 7.0, the Tegra 3 based gaming-focused tablet that launched a while back. Xolo Play was the first phone from the Indian manufacturer to sport a decent build quality and the Tegra 3 processor. It was clearly focused at gaming and Xolo wants to take it further into the hands of tablet seekers, with the 7 inch Xolo Play Tab. This is pretty much a Nexus 7 2012 repackaged with better materials and a different display. So, how does it look and perform in real? Videocon VT85C with 7-inch display, 3G and voice calling launched for Rs. 8999


Videocon has launched VT85C, the company’s latest tablet with voice calling capabilities. It appeared on the official website earlier this week, and has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It  comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It has a SIM card slot for 3G connectivity and a ear piece for voice calling. It also comes with range of pre-loaded applications including Facebook, OperaMini, NQ Mobile Security, Vstore, Hungama and more. Facebook Messenger 3.0 for iPhone brings a new design and new features

Facebook started rolling out an updated Messenger app for Android with a new design and a faster experience few weeks back for select users, now the iPhone has been updated to a new version that brings a similar design. This version has also been updated for iOS7 with custom in-app sounds. The startup time and overall speed and performance have also be improved. Now you can just tap across the bottom of the app to switch between the conversations, people and settings tabs. Motorola Moto G India Launch in early Jan 2014

Motorola just officially announced the Moto G at an event in Sao Paulo in Brazil and also holding a satellite event in London where we should be getting our hands on the Moto G shortly. The company has also confirmed that the Moto G is indeed coming to India as soon as January 2014. The device is priced at an aggressive $179 price  for a 8GB unlocked version in the US without any contract of any sort. The 16GB version costs just $20 more at  $199. The India pricing is not yet available but we expect it to be announced closer to launch and hopefully under Rs.12500 which is probably one of the cheapest Android phones from an international handset maker.

LG announced the Optimus L1 II, an entry-level 3G phone in L Series II back in August, now the dual-SIM variant of the phone, the Optimus L1 II Dual is available in India from online retailer HomeShop18 . It has a 3.0-inch (320 x 240 pixels) capacitive touch screen  display, powered by a 1 GHz processor and runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). It comes with a 2-megapixel rear camera with VGA video recording. It has QuickMemo app to jot notes quickly and Cheese Shutter to capture images using voice. It comes with dual SIM support with dual standby and a dedicated SIM switch key similar to the other dual SIM L Series II devices. Gionee GPad G3 went on sale online last month, now the company has officially launched the smartphone in India. It is the successor of the GPad G2 that was launched back in May and packs a 5.5-inch (854 × 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-inch (480×854 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It has Dual SIM (GSM + GSM) with Dual Standby and comes with 2G (EDGE) support. Other than the display resolution and the software, most of the specifications are similar to its predecessor. Zen launched the Ultrafone Amaze 701 FHD, the company’s latest flagship smartphone last month. We already brought you the unboxing of the device, here we have the benchmarks. The phone has a 5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display, powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589T processor with PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU and runs on Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean).  Let’s find out how this compete with other devices in range of synthetic benchmark tests when compared to other smartphones with a full HD display and a similar MT6589T including the Spice Pinnacle FHD Mi-525Gionee Elife E6Intex Aqua i7 and the recently launched Micromax Canvas Turbo.

Tata Docomo launches Endless Music service for its pre-paid customers

Tata Docomo has launched Endless Music, a yet a new value added service (VAS) for its pre-paid GSM customers in partnership with Hungama Mobile. This would let the customers listen to music for particular amount of period upon subscription and will work even for basic phone users, since this doesn’t require any software. This would only be available through electronic voucher distribution (EVD). It will also enable customers to set their favorite song and as caller tune at additional charges. Micromax to assemble phones in India starting next year

Micromax is looking to start assembling its phones in India starting next year, according to reports. The company might be the second largest smartphone vendor in India, it still imports all of its devices from China to sell it here. The original device manufacturers in China who do contract manufacturing for companies like Micromax, Karbonn and so many others, have enabled the influx of cheap and powerful smartphones for our market. With the ever expanding growth of the smartphone market in India, Micromax, which boasts 21 percent of the Indian market, might surely find that the logistics of import is definitely an issue, and the company is looking to fix it.

Karbonn Titanium X with 5-inch 1080p display, 13MP camera coming soon

Karbonn is all set to launch the Titanium X, the company’s first phone with a full HD display. The phone has appeared on the official website and packs a  5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) display, powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with Dual LED Flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It also has NFC support and packs a 2300 mAh battery. Detailed specifications of the phone such as RAM and memory are not available yet. Karbonn launched the Titanium S9 with a 5.5-inch HD display and a 13MP camera back in July.
