Microsoft has launched SkyDrive App for Windows Phone and iPhone. This would let you view, upload and share files, photos and documents from your SkyDrive account. Samsung Omnia W is now available for pre-order in India. It is now available for pre-order from online retailer, Flipkart. It is 10.9mm thick and weighs 115.3g and has 3.7 (800 x 480 pixels) inch Super AMOLED display. Samsung announced the phone in September and it was unveiled in India in October. I have been using Windows Phone for roughly 6 months now and yes, I really like it. WP, although not perfect, has some features that really got me. There is room for improvement, and I’m perfectly happy in going that route, watching it grow and evolute. After the rather mediocre HTC Trophy I’m now using the Nokia Lumia 800, which simply is the best Windows Phone out there, period.
One of the discussion points I have always faced, has been “but there are no apps on Windows Phone”. Well, i call it nonsense here. The Windows Phone Marketplace is constantly growing, and is getting filled with not only apps from the known brands, but also quality 3rd party applications, with some really cool ideas. Since people are still learning and are getting into Windows Phone since Nokia has joined the party, I thought it’d be a nice idea to put all my currently installed apps together, and wrap them up into a nice post. Remember when my good friend Stefanos Kofopoulos tortured the screen of the Nokia N8 in his famous video about a year ago? Well, Stefanos is at it again and sent over this video, where he puts the Gorilla Glass of Nokia’s first Windows Phone, the Lumia 800 through it’s paces. This video, posted over at his pestaola.gr blog is not for the faint hearted though, Stefanos does not hold back, scratching all over the display with keys, coins and even a Swiss Army knife! I don’t know about you, but those scratching sounds just made me cringe. Horrible stuff. What happens to the display you ask? Nokia has started rolling out new software update v1600.2479.7740.11451 for the Nokia Lumia 800 that brings performance and usability enhancements for the battery, voicemail notification and more. Nokia Stores across India have started to take Pre-orders for the first Windows Phone device from Nokia , the Lumia 800. Most Nokia Priority Stores across the country have the device on display as well. In case you wanted to check out the 1st Windows phone from Nokia , you can walk in and get your hands on the device. In order to reserve your unit , you must pay a small advance in the range of Rs.1000-2000 and the device will be made available in the next 10 days according the the store. The final retail price of the Lumia 800 is not yet fixed due to the fluctuating dollar we assume, but the person in a store hinted at a final retail price of Rs.30000-33000. The first Nokia Windows Phone went on sale in the UK few days back in the UK and few other countries . (Read our Nokia Lumia 800 Review). But looked like it was available in limited stores and more easily on a contract. Now online retailer has announced that SIM-Free / Unlocked units of the Lumia 800 will arrive on December 1st in the UK compared to the January 2012 timeframe announced previously.

Nokia and Microsoft has unveiled the Lumia 800 and the Lumia 710, Nokia’s first Window Phone devices in India. Both the Lumia 800 and the Lumia 710 were unveiled at the Nokia World 2011 in London. The Nokia Lumia 800 has a unibody design and comes with a 3.7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) ClearBlack AMOLED display. The Nokia Lumia 700 comes with a 3.7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) ClearBlack TFT display. Both these devices are powered by 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Scorpion CPU and runs on Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) OS. Nokia India just sent us an invite for a launch event on Nov 14th. The invite talks about Amazing New Experiences. We are betting this is the India launch of the Windows Phone devices. Nokia announced the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 devices at Nokia World 2011 last month where the company promised to bring these devices to India before the end of the year. The Lumia 710 would be coming first followed by the Lumia 800 from what we have learnt. Interestingly both these devices use a microSIM card like the iPhone 4 , 4s and Nokia N9. Would be interesting to see how operators address this issue. Pricing wise the Lumia 710 is expected to be cheaper than the 800 and the stated pricing is 270 euros and the device can come at around Rs.20,000

The Nokia Lumia 800 is the first device from Nokia showcasing the result of the partnership between them and Microsoft. However the phone which had really caught the imagination of smartphone enthusiasts all over the world was the Nokia N9.
