Acer announced the Iconia W4, successor of the Iconia W3 back in October. Today, the company launched the tablet in India. The Iconia W4 has a 8-inch (800 x 1280 pixels) multi-touch IPS display, powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Bay Trail T processor with integrated Intel HD Graphics and runs on the latest Windows 8.1. It comes pre-loaded with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 and packs a 18.6 Wh 4960 mAh 3.75 V 2-cell Battery Pack Lithium -Ion battery that offers battery life of up to 10 hours for web browsing and up to 8 hours for video playback. Xbox Music and Xbox Video apps released for Windows Phone 8

After a long wait, the Xbox team at Microsoft has finally released of Xbox Video and a separate Xbox Music app for Windows Phone 8. It’s been long since the Zune brand was shunned and its services morphed into Xbox Music and Video, but Windows Phone 8 released only with Music functionality, and there was no video rentals or downloads. We now have two separate apps, one for Xbox Music which works only with a Music pass, much like a Spotify client and Xbox Video, which finally allows you to download or stream videos from the service full of TV shows and Movies. Currently it doesn’t offer HD playback either, so that’s a bummer, considering the fact that the Lumia 1520 just released and is perfect for watching movies. In the build up to separately updated apps for the platform moving forward to 8.1, these apps come as a much needed release for Windows Phone currently.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 just launched a couple of days back in India for a price of Rs. 46,999/- after launching internationally in Abu Dhabi back in October. Being the company’s first phablet sized device with a 6 inch 1080p screen, it also naturally is the first Windows Phone with a full HD resolution and quad core innards. With these specs and more, the platform finally comes to parity with Android in the mobile space, at least in the hardware department. Software too has seen small changes with an additional column, upping the information density to a higher level than before. Subway Surfers is an extremely popular endless running game, set in an urban landscape with trains and tunnels and all you have to do is, get away from a security guard and his dog. This game has been in the spotlight for the past two years for its addictive gameplay. It initially debuted on the iPhone and then eventually Android where the popularity exploded. Now this game has finally arrived for the third ecosystem – Windows Phone. The game, usually seen as a must have for some people, was one of the things I personally missed when using Windows Phone. Of course, it was not a deal breaker, because it’s just a game, but the lack of it certainly proved costly for the ecosystem, but finally it’s here. Nokia Lumia 525 launches in Singapore, price revealed

Nokia unveiled the Lumia 525, the company’s latest budget smartphone and the successor of the Lumia 520 last month. Nokia did not reveal the price of the phone last month. The Lumia 525 went on sale in Singapore last week at a price tag of SG$249 (~Rs. 12,280). The 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) display at 235 ppi, super sensitive IPS display and is powered by a 1 GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 processor and runs on Windows Phone 8. It has a 5-megapixel auto focus rear camera with 720p HD video recording. RAM has been upgraded to 1GB from 512MB. Even thought it packs the same 1430 mAh battery, the battery life has been improved. Dungeon Hunter 4 for Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 now available as a free download

Dungeon Hunter, a Diablo inspired dungeon crawler role-playing game, is now available for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 as a free download. This game, and its previous iterations have been available for Android and iOS devices for a while now, and a part of a deal struck between Gameloft and Microsoft, a set of games that includes Asphalt 8 and now this one, has landed on the Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 Stores respectively. This game is basically a top down 3D dungeon crawler in which you go around killing and collecting stuff to march through the story and in the end improve your character with powers and things.

Nokia Normandy, a large screen Asha phone leaked a couple of days back, now evleaks has hinted that the Nokia smartphone codenamed Moneypenny would come with dual-SIM support. The twitter user already revealed that the Nokia Goldfinger and Moneypenny would be the first Windows Phone Blue devices. Windows Phone Blue is the codename for Windows Phone 8.1, which would see a drastic change unlike the GDR updates.
