HTC One Mini Hands-On

HTC announced the mini version of their flagship, HTC One, back in July as the HTC One Mini and the phone was on display at IFA 2013 in Berlin. The HTC One Mini looks quite similar to the original HTC One, but comes in a smaller package and a less powerful package.

Acer Liquid S1 Hands-on

Acer launched their new flagship Acer Liquid S2 just ahead of the IFA and they had announced the Liquid S1 back in Computex which was a couple of months back. The Liquid S1 is quite a big device with a 5.7inch HD display. It comes with Dual-SIM capabilities and is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor from MediaTek – MT6589. It has an 8 MP camera at the back along with LED flash and it is capable of recording 1080p videos.

Alcatel One Touch has announced range of smartphone in the Pop series, the Pop C1, Pop C3, Pop C5, and Pop C7 at the IFA 2013 in Berlin. These are aimed at youth and offers simplicity and style, says the company. These come in range of display sizes, colors and accessories. Microsoft OneNote for iPhone and iPad updated to v2.1, iPad app gets SkyDrive notebooks

Microsoft has updated its OneNote app for iPhone and iPad to version 2.1 that brings several improvements including, om proved Japanese typing responsiveness, Automatic list detection that lets you spend less time formatting your content and lots of bug fixes. The iPad app  now has support for creating new SkyDrive notebooks and also now lets you  add, rename and delete sections. The iPhone app is now less than half the size in download and installation size. OneNote for iPhone and iPad got a major update back in July that brought lot of new features.

Google Nexus 5 spotted at FCC as LG D820 with Snapdragon 800 and Android 4.4

Just ahead of the IFA, Google revealed that their next version of Android will be Android 4.4 KitKat in a surprising manner with no events or anything of that. Last year, Google Nexus 4 was launched in November along with Android 4.2 Jellybean and looks like Google are getting ready to replace their flagship smartphone device. In the past, there have been rumors flying around that Motorola has been roped in build the next Nexus smartphone device. Certain rumors hinted at LG to repeat its favor last year and nothing was confirmed until Google released a video for Android 4.4 KitKat in which Google may have teased the new Nexus 5. Apple reportedly testing 6 inch iPhones

Apple is all set to announce its next iPhone – iPhone 5S and its cheaper version of iPhone – iPhone 5C next week on September 10th. We have had various leaks and rumors suggesting that Apple was indeed testing a bigger iPhone and a larger iPad and today we have more information from The Wall Street Journal that Apple is testing iPhones ranging from 4.8inch – 6inch.

Sony Xperia Z1 vs Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom Hands on

The Sony Xperia Z1 is the latest flagship device announced by the Japanese smartphone manufacturer. We’ve already gone hands on with it and brought to you all the latest details of the phone. Given the camera centric pedigree of the phone, we found it apt to compare with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom. Here’s a quick comparison between the two.

The front of the Xperia Z1 has a 5inch Full HD display with the company’s triluminous display built in while the Galaxy S4 Zoom makes do with a 4.3″ Super AMOLED qHD panel. The Z1 has no capacitive buttons and makes do with onscreen controls. The S4 Zoom on the other hand has a hardware home key right below the display with capacitive buttons on either side of it.

Sony Xperia Z1 vs Xperia Z Ultra Hands on

Sony announced its latest flagship device, the Xperia Z1 here at IFA in Berlin and we’ve already gone hands on with the camera centric device. It competes within its own stable with the Z Ultra that is also a relatively recent launch for the Japanese smartphone manufacturer. While they don’t exactly compete with each other, here’s a quick break down to see how the handset fare when placed next to each other.

The design language of the Z1 and Z Ultra is very similar and they most definitely do appear like they belong to the same family of smartphones. The front of the Z1 has a 5 inch Full HD Triluminous display with Sony’s X-Reality Engine thrown in for good measure.The Z Ultra on the other hand has an absolutely gargantuan 6.44″ screen. The resolution is the same as the Z1 at 1920 x 1080 with the pixel density dropping down to 342ppi versus the 441ppi of the Z1. The screens on both the phones are a much needed improvement over previous gen Sony devices and have fairly wide viewing angles and good color reproduction.

China Telecom almost confirms iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C release

For the first time, Apple is hosting two events for the launch of their premium iPhone. The first event is scheduled on September 10th at Apple’s HQ in Cupertino and the second event is planned for Sept 11 in China. According to the rumor-mill, it is believed that Apple will be launching two iPhones this time – iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

The IFA event at Berlin, one of the increasingly important consumer electronic trade shows, just started, but tons of devices have already been launched. Amongst them, standing out from the crowd, is the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, unveiled with much excitement and fervor, as leaks failed to provide proper information before launch. The Note 3 is the third iteration of the very popular Note series of devices Samsung made popular. The range, infamously held responsible for creating the phablet phenomenon, also created a paradigm shift in the company, for its portfolio.

Evernote 5.3 for Android brings Document Markup, Announcements and more

Evernote for Android 5.3 Markups

Evernote has updated the Android application to version 5.3 that brings Document Markup that lets you overlay text, shapes, arrows, stamps, and more on top of images. This feature is similar to the Evernote Skitch. Premium users can now add annotations to any page of the PDF. This feature is available as a trail for limited time.  Now you can tap the bugle icon at the top of the homescreen to find Announcements that details product update information, tips about features and inspiring user stories.

Facebook for Android 3.7 Beta

Facebook has updated the Android Beta app to version 3.7 that brings lot of new features including the most need, post and comment editing features, icons with action status update and more. The  new action and icon status updates yet was released for iPhone and iPad in the version 6.2 update back in June. Facebook started the Beta program back in June. Both the 3.5 and 3.6 Betas brought only bug fixes and improvements. Intex Aqua HD with 4.7-inch HD display, quad-core processor now available for Rs. 14999


Intex launched the Aqua i7, the company’s flagship Android smartphone earlier this week, Aqua HD  appeared on the official website on the same day. The phone is now available from online retailer Infibeam in India. It has a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek 6589 processor and runs on Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Google Nexus 7 (2013) vs Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 311

Today we have the new Google Nexus 7 (2013) against Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 3 311. The new Nexus 7 was launched in July and is yet to be available in India while the Galaxy Tab 3 was launched in July and has been available since then in India.

The Nexus 7 comes with an upgraded processor, much better display and a rear camera which was absent in its predecessor while the Galaxy Tab 3 has Samsung’s Exynos SoC.

Fighter Lukkha action game launched for feature phones

Disney UTV’s Indiagames has launched Fighter Lukkha, an action game themed around a typical Mumbai gang war. The game is set in the chawls of Mumbai with Lukkha as the main protagonist who takes on his archenemy Todfod. Users start playing as Lukkha and together with his gang members fights against Todfod. They can choose from equipment like knives, short ranged pistols and much more besides their bare hands for their fight.
