Meta has announced the launch of the Edits Film Festival, a 45-day initiative inviting digital creators across India to produce cinematic Reels using Edits, Instagram’s dedicated video editing application.
The competition aims to highlight new editing tools and features introduced to the platform over the past year by challenging creators to repurpose raw, unpolished video footage into refined short-form narratives.
The submission window runs through October 8. Participants are required to create original Reels exclusively within the Edits app, utilizing available built-in tools such as overlays, audio effects, filters, and typography.
To enter, creators must post their submissions on Instagram, detailing the specific editing features used, tagging @metaindia and @weareyuvaa, and including the hashtag #EditsFilmFestival.
A dedicated jury will evaluate entries based on narrative uniqueness, technical transformation of raw footage, and the inventive application of the app’s editing toolkit. The judging panel comprises:
- Ahsaas Channa, actor known for work across Indian streaming platforms and film.
- Dolly Singh, digital content creator and recipient of the 2025 Instagram Rings Award.
- Nikhil Taneja, writer, producer, and co-founder of Yuvaa.
- Rajeev Masand, film critic, media personality, and COO of Dharma Cornerstone Agency.
Between 10 and 20 shortlisted Reels will be selected for an official screening at a private event organized for the festival. Selected creators will receive feature coverage across Meta India’s official channels, along with early beta access to forthcoming features scheduled for rollout on the Edits platform.
