Samsung has finally started rolling out the Android 4.2.2 update for the Galaxy Grand Duos (GT-I9082). The update started rolling out for the Grand Duos starting from Russia last month. . The phone was announced in December last year running Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). Google Wallet finally comes to iOS, without NFC

Google Wallet, Google’s payment solution was expected to make payments much easier and make NFC payments mainstream, but ever since Apple ditched NFC, Wallet hasn’t really caught on. Google Wallet hasn’t been on available on what is one of the most popular smartphone platforms, iOS until now. Apple just updated their iOS platform with a complete redesign in iOS 7 and it was available to the general public just a couple of days ago. And Google Wallet finally made its way to iOS app store just after iOS 7 went public.

HP announced the company’s first Tegra 4-powered hybrid, SlateBook x2 with a 10.1-inch 1080p display back in May. Now the company has announced two new devices, Slate 7 Extreme and Slate 8 Pro powered by a Tegra 4 Cortex-A15 processor with 72-core GeForce GPU. The Slate 7 Extreme has a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) display, while the Slate 8 Pro comes with a 7.98-inch (1600 x 1200 pixels) display. Apple not only changed the smartphone industry with their iPhone, but they also made a huge impact on the handheld gaming industry. Since the iPhone 3GS, iOS devices have become an integral part of the handheld gaming platform. It became very clear when the developers of iOS games had more revenue than the handheld console game developers. However, one of the things that has been holding back the gaming experience on the iOS devices is the lack of proper physical gamepads. Despite the many number of third party gaming accessories, iOS devices have lacked native support for gamepads until iOS 7.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 211 was launched in India a couple of months ago and we finally have it in our labs for testing. The updated version of the Galaxy Tab 2 311 has a new S3-inspired design and almost the same internals as before. The bezels have become shorter though, making it easier for one handed usage. LG G2 Benchmarks

LG G2 Benchmarks

LG unveiled the G2, the company’s latest flagship smartphone at an event last month. We brought you the unboxing of the device recently. Here we have the benchmarks of the device. The device is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) 28nm HPm Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.27 GHz with 480 MHz Adreno 330 GPU. The Xperia Z Ultra was clocked at 2.15 GHz, but the G2 is clocked at 2.27 GHz as you can see in the CPU-Z in the image above. We brought you the benchmarks of the Snapdragon 800 on a reference smartphone few months back. Here we have also compared it in these benchmarks to show you the difference. Even though this one is slightly undercloked than the original chip that is clocked at 2.3 GHz, benchmarks are almost similar.

Lava has officially launched the Iris 506Q, a new smartphone in the Iris series. It went on sale online earlier this week, but the launch price is cheaper than the online price of Rs. 11700, which is a good thing. It has a 5-inch qHD  (960 × 540 pixels) OGS display,  powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, 720p HD video recording and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It has Dual SIM support with dual standby and 3G connectivity. Opera has announced that they have partnered with 7 Indian OEMs including Micromax, Videocon, Spice, MoMagic Technologies, Wynncom, Lemon Mobiles and iBall to pre-install the Opera mini browser on their Android devices. Opera has also added 2 more OEMs, Symphony Mobile in Bangladesh and Colors Mobile in Nepal in South Asia region. Opera partnered with 7 Indian OEMs Celkon, Karbonn, Lava. BBM for Android and iPhone coming on September 21st and 22nd respectively

Yesterday, BlackBerry announced their big Z30 and we brought you news that BBM will be available for Android and iOS very soon. After months of waiting, BBM will be finally available as a cross-platform service starting this week. Micromax to preload BBM on all its Canvas Smartphones

BlackBerry messenger, one of the most popular instant messaging services, had announced its arrival on iOS and Android platforms earlier, but it looks like manufacturers are already warming up to the concept of pre-loading it on their devices. Micromax is the one of the first manufacturers to announce that it will pre-load BBM on all of its Canvas Smartphones starting from the first week of October. But of course existing users too, can download the BBM app through the play store, irrespective of the device they own.
