Lava has officially launched the Iris X5 4G, after it was leaked in benchmarks last month. It has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display, is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core 64-bit MediaTek processor and runs on Star OS based on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). LG launched Gentle, an Android flip phone in Korea last week. Today the company has introduced the same phone as new Wine Smart, successor of last year’s Wine Smart for global markets. It has a 3.2-inch (320 x 480 pixels) display, is powered by a 1.1 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop). It has a 3-megapixel rear camera without flash and a VGA front-facing camera. It also comes with 4G connectivity. Google has expanded its Android One program to Thailand, which becomes the tenth country to get Android One smartphones officially after India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Philippines, Turkey, Myanmar and Pakistan. Viber has updated its mobile apps on Android and iOS with a couple of new features. The update that bumps the apps to version 5.5 brings easier video calling, animated stickers, contact sharing and more.
Microsoft announced the Lumia 640 XL back in March at the MWC 2015. It comes in three variants, and the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM was launched in India in April, but the company is yet to launch the LTE version of the smartphone in the country. Xiaomi has announced an event on August 13th to introduce MIUI 7, its next MIUI ROM. The MIUI 6 was introduced back in August last year that brought a flat user interface and new features. Even though early versions of MIUI 6 were based on Android KitKat, the latest smartphones such as Mi 4i are running on MIUI 6 ROM based on Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop).

Google has released Android distribution numbers for June and July. Android Lollipop is now running on 18.1% of Android devices of which 5.0 Lollipop is present on 15.5% of devices while Lollipop 5.1 runs on 2.6%.
Live image of upcoming smartphones from Sony have surfaced in a new leak. The handsets in the image that was leaked by @viziLeaks are claimed to be Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact.
