Reliance Communications (RCOM) today announced that it will acquire Sistema’s Indian wireless business, carried on by Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd. (SSTL) under the MTS brand funded entirely by stock. It will acquire approx. 9 million customers and approximately Rs. 1,500 crore of annual revenues by virtue of the transaction, said the company. Motorola has announced the most expected DROID Turbo 2 smartphone along with the DROID Maxx 2. The DROID Turbo 2 is an enhanced version of the Moto X Style that packs a slightly smaller 5.4-inch Quad HD AMOLED 540 ppi display. It also has Moto ShatterShield, the world’s first shatterproof display. Motorola says that the display is guaranteed not to crack or shatter for up to 4 years. It packs a Snapdragon 810 processor, runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) and is upgradable to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It has a 3760mAh battery, slightly bigger than the Moto X Style and has the same front and rear cameras. The DROID Maxx 2 is a variant of Moto X Play. Idea Cellular reported its second quarter (Q2) 2015 and half year revenues that ended on September 30, 2015. In the report, it also said that it is planning to roll out 4G services across 10 telecom service areas – Maharashtra & Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Punjab and Haryana, Karnataka, Orissa, Tamil Nadu and North East over 750 large and small towns by the first half of 2016. Vodafone already announced that it will launch 4G services in India by December 2015. It also said that Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Kochi circles will get 4G first. Today the operator has announced that it will roll out 4G services in Delhi/NCR region by December 2015. “Key corridors of Delhi/NCR will be part of the first wave of the 4G roll-out, which will be launched across the circle in a phased manner”, said Vodafone.
