Airtel to acquire Aircel’s 4G spectrum in 8 circles for Rs. 3500 crore

Bharti Airtel has announced that the company and its subsidiary, Bharti Hexacom have entered into definitive agreements with Aircel and its subsidiaries, Dishnet Wireless to acquire rights to use 20 MHz of 2300 Band 4G spectrum for eight circles – Tamil Nadu (including Chennai), Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, West Bengal, Assam, North East, Andhra Pradesh and Orissa for an aggregate consideration of Rs. 3,500 crore.

Airtel launches 4G services in Kurnool, now in 40 towns in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana

Airtel has commercially launched its 4G LTE services in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. With the roll out, 4G is now present in 25 towns in the state. It has also expanded 4G coverage in 15 towns in the state of Telangana . Airtel 4G is now available in mobile phones, dongles, 4G hotspots and Wi-Fi dongles in these towns. BSNL to launch 4G in 14 telecom circles

BSNL is the latest telecom company that is foraying into 4G and is looking forward to launch services in 14 telecom circles, according to a latest report from PTI. Airtel has commercially launched its 4G LTE services in Goa. Airtel launched 4G services in 296 towns across India back in August last year. Airtel 4G is available to customers across mobile phones, dongles, 4G hotspots and Wi-Fi dongles in the city. Bharti Airtel has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with Videocon Telecommunications (VTL) to acquire rights to use 2 x 5 MHz spectrum in the 1800 MHz Band in six circles – Bihar, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, UP (East), UP (West) and Gujarat (Transaction) in a deal worth Rs. 4428 crore. Reliance Jio will offer free unlimited WiFi service at 6 stadiums during the upcoming T20 WorldCup. Dubbed as Jio Net, the service will be available at Ferozshah Kotla, Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, Mumbai’s Wankhede and Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore and stadiums in Mohali and Dharmashala.

Idea launches 4G LTE services in Chennai, coming to Coimbatore and Pondicherry soon

Idea today launched its 4G LTE services in Chennai, as it had promised back in December, when it launched 4G services in across 75 Towns in Southern India, including Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Tiruppur and Kancheepuram. Idea 4G is now available in 29 towns of Tamil Nadu and Chennai. It is available in 20 districts, including major towns of Chennai, Madurai, Trichy, Salem, Tirunelveli, Vellore, Erode & Tirupur, covering 30% of the total population of the circle.
