Vodafone offering 4G-ready SIMs in Punjab ahead of 4G roll out, will offer free 2GB data for limited period

After Tamil Nadu, Vodafone has started offering 4G-ready SIM cards to its existing customers in Punjab (including Chennai) through Vodafone stores, Vodafone Mini Stores and close to 6,000 multi brand outlets, ahead of 4G roll out in the circle. Initially the 4G services will be launched in select towns of Punjab, said the company. It will be based on 1800 MHz band, similar to most other circles. Vodafone has started offering 4G-ready SIM cards to its existing customers in Tamil Nadu (including Chennai) through Vodafone stores, Vodafone Mini Stores and close to 10,000 multi brand outlets, ahead of 4G roll out in the circle. Initially the 4G services will be launched in select towns of Tamil Nadu, said the company. It will be based on 2100 MHz band 1, making the company first in the country to use the band that it had acquired recently. Reliance Jio starts testing doorstep SIM card delivery through pilot program

Last month Reliance Jio announced that it had signed record 16 million new subscribers in 26 days of its commercial operations, which must have increased by several folds now. The company already said that it is aiming to reach 100 million subscribers by the year end, before the Jio Welcome offer ends. Even though Jio SIM cards are now widely available in several cities, now it has started a new pilot program to deliver SIM cards to your doorstep, as rumored earlier. It isusing dual spectrum bands of 2300 MHz (TD LTE) and 1800 MHz (FD LTE) bands and the company has deployed Carrier Aggregation (4G-Advanced) technology, which promises data speeds of up to 135 Mbps on compatible handsets. Airtel launches 4G LTE services in Uttar Pradesh

Airtel has launched 4G LTE services in 13 Major towns in Uttar Pradesh (UP) starting with Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Agra, Aligarh, Bulandshahar, Hapur, Mathura, Modinagar, Muzzafarnagar & Meerut. 4G will be offered using spectrum band of 1800 MHz (FD LTE and is available through mobile phones, 4G hotspots and dongles in these towns. Airtel, Vodafone and Idea expected to launch VoLTE services soon to take on Reliance Jio

Reliance Jio officially launched pan-India 4G LTE services with VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) support and free voice calls in September. Now Airtel has signed a $60 million (Rs. 402 crore) pan-India deal with Nokia to implement VoLTE calling technology, according to a report from ET Telecom. Reliance Jio had filed several complaints with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) against incumbent operators who failed to provide sufficient POIs to Jio. Yesterday TRAI in separate letters to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) secretary, has recommended a total penalty of Rs. 3050 core on Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular in circles where the point of interconnect (PoI) congestion exceeded the permissible limit of 0.5%.
