Earlier this year Airtel offered free Facebook access for their prepaid customers for 1 month. This would let the customers enjoy Facebook Messenger access with up to 200MB of free monthly usage. Airtel 4G plans now start from Rs. 450, partners with BigFlix and Indiagames for movies and games bundle


Airtel has introduced new plans for their 4G customers that now starts at Rs. 450. Airtel introduced 4G TD-LTE services last year, first in Kolkata with plans starting from Rs. 999 with 6GB of free monthly data. Now the new Rs. 450, Rs. Rs. 650 and Rs. 750 plans come with 2GB, 3GB and 4GB of free monthly data, respectively. Airtel has also increased the data limit for the plans starting from Rs. 999 which would come with 10GB of free monthly data limit. Indian Government allocates new spectrum to Vodafone in 14 circles


Indian Government has allocated 2G spectrum to Vodafone in all 14 service areas, according a recent report from PTI. Vodafone had won spectrum in 14 circles including Assam, Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, North East, Orissa, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh East and West and  West Bengal back in November, 2012. Last year Supreme Court of India cancelled 122 2G licenses and the spectrum was freed up later. Last year’s 2G spectrum auction saw poor response which got bids worth just Rs. 9,407.64 crore, much lower than their target revenue of Rs. 40,000 crore. Now Idea too reduces 2G data rates


Idea Cellular has also reduced 2G data rates followed by Airtel and Vodafone. Idea Cellular has reduced 2G data rates by 90% across 8 circles. Earlier this week Vodafone announced the reduction of 2G data rates for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) users down to 2p/10KB from the previous rate of 10p/10KB, later Airtel announced the reduction of 2G data rates by 90% for pre-paid customers in Punjab and Haryana. Aircel offers international roaming services for customers travelling to Myanmar


Aircel has partnered with MPT, a Government Agency, operating under the Ministry of Communications, Posts and Telegraphs to offer international roaming services for its customers travelling to Myanmar. It is available for postpaid subscribers of all Aircel circles. Aircel becomes the first Indian telecom operator to offer international roaming services in Myanmar. Airtel cuts 2G data rates up to 90% on select plans

Airtel has slashed the 2G data rates up to 90 percent on select plans for pre-paid customers in Punjab and Haryana, reports The Times of India. This comes after Vodafone’s move to cut 2G data rates up to 80% for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) in Karnataka, UP West and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh circles for both pre-paid and post-paid customers. Opinion – Why 3G Fair Usage Policy is Retarded

Interrupting my usual Internet binging over a daily 2 hour commute, was a message from my operator. The message said I had exhausted my 2 GB limit for high speed internet this month, and now will be forced to a ridiculously low speed of 64 kbps. Say what?! Yes, I understand the concept of a fair usage policy thank you very much, and hey, apparently, I can either go through with the reduced speeds or order an add-on pack for an additional 250 rupees for a GB of 3G data. How lovely!

Vodafone cuts 2G data rates for Pay As You Go customers up to 80%


Vodafone India has announced that they have reduced the 2G data rates for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) users up to 80%. The charges are down to 2p/10KB from the previous rate of 10p/10KB. This rate would be applicable for all pre-paid and post-paid customers using 2G network on a Pay as you Go basis, which would be affordable for those who use mobile internet in a limited way. Vodafone revised their 3G data plans last June that made additional usage charges after free data and The Pay As You Go (PAYG) rate for the customers customers as 2p/10KB on a 3G network. TRAI: Roaming charges for Calls and SMS to be cheaper from July 1st

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has reduced the limit for national roaming tariff for calls and SMS. They have also issued a new regime for the telecom providers to offer unlimited roaming through Special Tariff Vouchers (STVs) and Combo Vouchers. Reliance Jio to increase headcount, reveals 4G plans

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of the Reliance Industries has revealed details about the Reliance Jio and 4G launch plans at the 39th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai today. Last year the company first revealed its plans for 4G. Now the company has revealed that they would increase the Reliance Jio Infocomm team by nearly 10,000 professionals nationally over the next year. It started with 700 professionals a year back in Navi Mumbai, now the company has over 3,000 professionals.
