Reliance details iPhone 5S and 5C plans with zero down-payment, starts at Rs. 2599 per month with a 2 year contract

Reliance Communications (RCom)  has launched the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C in India as they promised. We reported that the operator plans to launch these phones in India with attractive plans with  a 2 year contract. Now the company has detailed those plans. The company has announced two new offers, Rs. 2,599 per month for the iPhone 5c and Rs 2,999 per month for the iPhone 5s with a 24 month contract. This include the handset cost, unlimited local and STD calls, SMS’, national roaming and 3G data. This makes RCOM the first company to launch the iPhone with no down payment plans.

Vodafone slashes 2G data rates by 80% for its Pay As You Go customers across India

Vodafone was the first operator in the country to announce reduction in 2G data rates for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) users by 80%, back in June. It rolled out the new rates in select circles such as Karnataka, UP West and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh as a pilot launch and announced that it would be rolled out in other circles across India in a phased manner. Now the company has announced the new rates would roll out for all pre-paid and post-paid customers on 2G on a ‘Pay as you Go’ basis across its circles in India from November 1, 2013. Idea Cellular has launched the Idea Ultra, the company’s latest flagship smartphone. It has a 5-inch (480 x 854 pixels) IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. Vodafone India launches new international roaming packs, offers up to 95% discount on data


Vodafone India has launched a new international roaming pack for its pre-paid and post-paid customers in India visiting 53 countries including UK, USA, UAE, Thailand, Singapore and more. It offers over 95% discount on data and approximately 78% on outgoing local and international calls compared to existing rates. These are available in two variants, Rs. 599 and Rs. 1499 that comes  with a validity of 10 and 30 days respectively. Vodafone launched international roaming packs for post-paid users earlier this year, the new packs are cheaper than that. MTS India rolls out 3GPLUS network powered by EV-DO Rev.B Phase II

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) that provides telecom services under the MTS brand has announced the commercial roll out of its 3GPLUS telecom network based the Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Rev. B Phase II technology. The company received its third spectrum carrier from Department of Telecom (DoT) earlier this month, and MTS becomes the first telecom operator in India to provide 3GPLUS network coverage across all its 9 circles of operations, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kolkata, Uttar Pradesh (West) and West Bengal. Airtel acquires 100% stake in Qualcomm’s 4G venture


Airtel announced that they have acquired 100% stake in Qualcomm Inc’s 4G venture. Airtel increased its stake to 51% from 49% back in July, which it acquired back in May 2012 by paying US$ 165 million (Rs 927.39 crore approx). Qualcomm won BWA Spectrum in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala circles in 2010 by paying about US$ 1 billion (Rs. 4912.54 crore approx) in the auction by DoT in June 2010 Department of Telecom (DoT). Reliance launches new US International Roaming pack for post-paid customers

Reliance Communications (RCom) has launched International Roaming Pack – Awesome America for its post-paid GSM customers.Reliance says that the pack would save up to 98% on data usage and up to 76% on voice calls while travelling to America. The pack costs Rs. 849 and comes with a validity for 30 days. You pay Rs. 10 for 1 MB of data usage while roaming in the United States. Videocon Telecom adds 9.5% more subscribers over previous month


Videocon Telecom has seen phenomenal monthly growth of 9.5% with net addition of over 4.21 lakh subscribers in September 2013 to reach 49 Lakh customers. GSM subscribers increased by 4.41 million in September 2013 (0.65% increase from previous month), according to COAI report. Reliance Communications RCOM announced today that it would offer the Apple iPhone 5C and iPhone 5C on the Reliance 3G network starting from November 1st. Apple had announced few days back that it is launching the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s in India and this news from Indian operators does not come as a surprise.The iPhone 5S is powered by a 64-bit processor and packs a better camera and a TouchID fingerprint sensor. The iPhone 5C is just the iPhone 5 wrapped in a colorful plastic shell but is priced slightly below the iPhone 5s.

Aircel introduces cheap Pocket Internet 3G plans starting at Rs. 128 for 1GB per month

Aircel, one of the leading mobile operators in India, has followed Reliance Mobile’s footsteps by launching a new and cheap tariff for 3G data plans. The 3G data pack rates have almost been halved in this case, and now are even more affordable. It used to cost Rs. 250 for 1GB of data in the Chennai circle, but now it is just Rs. 128 and the data pack rates slightly vary for other regions. There is also a new Pocket Internet Rs. 27 data pack that offers unlimited 2G/3G data for 7 days, with a FUP of 750 MB. The new tariff is much needed for rapid uptake in 3G and we think we will see it happen once all the operators introduce this new pack. Airtel has launched myPlan, a new option for post-paid subscribers to customize a plan suitable for them in three easy steps. This lets you pick the rentals, benefits and top ups. You can choose monthly rental priced between Rs. 199 and Rs. 999. Once you choose a monthly rental you can choose myPacks, which are free benefits, finally you can choose boosters at a nominal rate. MTS India receives its 3rd carrier in the 800 MHz spectrum from DoT

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) that nationally operates its telecom services under the MTS brand has announced that ihas received its 3rd carrier in the 800 Mhz spectrum band from the Department of Telecom (DoT). This would let them launch its next generation, REV B Phase II telecom services says the company. Vodafone plans to increase its stake in the Indian unit


Vodafone in planning to buy out minority shareholders in its Indian arm for about US$2 billion, according to a recent report from the Financial Times. Vodafone owns about 64% of Vodafone India. Piramal Healthcare run by Billionaire industrialist Ajay Piramal has 11% stake and the remaining 25% stake is controlled by undisclosed minority shareholders.
