Vodafone India has partnered with Twitter India to offer access to Twitter for Android app and mobile.twitter.com free of any mobile charges for three months without any data pack. Twitter will promote the ‘no mobile internet charges’ experience on Vodafone by clearly prompting and informing the customer on the applicable charges, especially when they are accessing links via their Twitter timeline and elsewhere on Twitter’s network. Aircel partners with Wikimedia Foundation to offer free Wikipedia access on mobile phones

Aircel has tied up with Wikimedia Foundation to offer free access to Wikipedia on mobile phones for their customers. This is the first service of its kind to formally launch in India. This lets you browse Wikipedia website (m.wikipedia.org) on any internet enabled mobile phone without any data charges. This is a part of Wikimedia Foundation’s Wikipedia Zero program, to enable mobile access, free of data charges, to Wikipedia to billions of people around the world, especially in developing countries. MTS launches CDMA EV-DO Rev.B Phase II network in Bhiwadi, Jodhpur, Kota and Udaipur

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) that provides telecom services under the MTS brand has expanded its CDMA EV-DO Rev.B Phase II network to 4 more cities, Bhiwadi, Jodhpur, Kota and Udaipur in Rajasthan. MTS launched the world’s first CDMA EV-DO Rev.B Phase II network in India back in September 2011 starting from Jaipur. At that time MTS had also launched MBlaze Ultra dongle that offers internet speeds of up to 9.8 Mbps. Motorola has officially announced the new Trio of Droid phones, the  Droid Mini, Droid Ultra and the Droid Maxx for Verizon Wireless in USA. The Droid Mini is the a compact phone with a 4.3-inch HD edge-to-edge display and wireless charging capabilities, the Droid Ultra has a 5-inch HD display is is just 7.18mm thick. The Droid Maxx also has a 5-inch HD screen and packs a 3500 mAh battery that offers up to two days of battery life on a single charge. These are powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2. All these are made with DuPont Kevlar fiber unibody design and has non-removable battery.

Idea launches Campus Card in the Delhi-NCR aimed at College Students


Idea Cellular has launched  Campus Card in the Delhi & NCR region aimed at college students that offers talk time, data, SMS and discounted calling. This would let them stay in touch with their friends and family for 30 paisa a minute (Local Idea to Idea). Vodafone India has launched Innovative Design retail concept at its store in Mumbai. This is the first Innovative Design concept store in India, and is based on a Global Design Concept  in international markets like London. The store is located at its corporate office premises at Lower Parel, Mumbai. Vodafone launches Campus Pack with talk time, SMS and Data in Delhi & NCR

Vodafone India has launched Campus Pack, 2 new bonus cards with low calling rates for STD calls. These packs also offer Free SMS, local Vodafone to Vodafone calling minutes, 1GB of Data. The Campus Pack offers two value-for-money deals and is aimed at youth. Vodafone says that they have launched this Campus Pack to reach out to college students this admission season in Delhi and NCR.

Vodafone introduces free incoming on roaming, plans start from Rs. 5

Vodafone India has launched new Special Tariff Vouchers (STV) for its pre-paid and post-paid customers that would let them enjoy free incoming while on national roaming. Airtel announced a similar roaming pack earlier this week and Idea Cellular launched national roaming packs few days back. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) reduced the limit for national roaming tariff for calls and SMS last month that makes free roaming plans for all the operators compulsory. Videocon follows Vodafone, Airtel and Idea, slashes 2G data rates by 90%


Videocon Mobile Services is the latest operator to cut 2G data rates. Videocon has reduced 2G GPRS rates by 90% across Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh circles. Last month Vodafone announced reduction of 2G data rates for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) users down to 2p/10KB and Airtel announced reduction of 2G data rates by 90% for pre-paid customers in Punjab and Haryana. Few weeks back Idea Cellular has announced new 2G data rate of 2p/10KB for their prepaid and postpaid customers. Airtel increases stake in Qualcomm’s 4G venture to 51%

Vodafone India offers Rs. 4000 crore to retain 2G licenses in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata


Vodafone has offered to pay Rs. 4000 crore to the government to extend and continue its licenses in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata, according to a recent report from PTI. Last month Vodafone announced that that they are taking all required actions, including legal against the Department of Telecom (DoT), regarding the 2G spectrum issue in these 3 metros. Idea Cellular has launched new roaming packs that would let you enjoy free incoming calls while roaming nationally. Airtel launched national roaming packs yesterday starting at Rs. 5/day. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) reduced the limit for national roaming tariff for calls and SMS last month.  Videocon made incoming calls free back in March without any processing fee or a special tariff vouchers. Airtel has launched new roaming packs for both the prepaid and postpaid customers that would let them enjoy free roaming while travelling across India. Airtel launched a roaming pack for prepaid customers in Delhi back in March that offered discounted rates for incoming calls for roaming, now the new packs would offer free incoming calls. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) reduced the limit for national roaming tariff for calls and SMS last monthVideocon already offers free incoming calls without any processing fee or a special tariff vouchers. Other operators are yet to announce free national roaming plans.

Airtel and Google partner to launch Free Zone, offers free access to Search, Gmail and Google+

Bharti Airtel has tied up with Google to launch of Free Zone powered by Google that would let Airtel mobile customers access to Google Search, Gmail and Google+ in India. These don’t work with the Google apps, and you need to use mobile web search and feature-phone-friendly versions of Gmail and Google+ . The first page of a website linked from search results is provided at no data cost. It is also optimized for non-smartphones or feature phones with data access.
