Karbonn ties up with Vodafone, offers bundled data with Titanium S5 and Smart A12

Karbonn has announced that they have tied up with Vodafone India to offer free data on purchase of the Karbonn Titanium S5 and the Smart A12. This would let the Karbonn Titanium S5 buyers enjoy 1GB of 3G or 3G Unlimited Internet Plan free for 3 Months on Vodafone. First time Vodafone 3G customers using Karbonn A12 would get 500 MB  of 3G and 2G Internet Plan free for 2 months.  The company partnered with Airtel earlier this year to offer similar data packs with select smartphones. Tata Docomo partners with Opera for a co-branded Opera Mini browser

Tata Docomo, one of the many leading operators in India, has partnered with Opera, the browser company, for providing a customized co-branded Opera Mini browser for all of its users in India. Armed with server side data compression technology, which the company pioneered, it provides up to 90% compression and lets you browse with much lesser impact on your mobile data balance. The co-branded browser is available for download at m.opera.com on all the supported mobile devices. That means everything except Windows Phone, we guess.

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos launched with data offer from Vodafone and the Galaxy S4 came with All-in-One plan.

No new 3G subscribers have been added in the intra-circle roaming areas, says Idea

The Delhi High Court issued notice against Idea Cellular for allegedly not complying with its earlier orders on 3G roaming. Idea Cellular has issued a statement regarding this saying that they have not added new 3G subscribers have been added in the 3G Seeker Service Areas as per its compliance affidavit dated 18th April 2013 with the order of the the Delhi High Court dated 12th April 2013. IDEA ID 920 launched recently by the IDEA Cellular Limited is a successor to the ID 918 launched back in year 2012. Similar to the ID918 which was the entry level 3G android smartphone, ID920 is also a entry level dual SIM 3G device but with much faster CPU, yet at very aggressive price point. Mobile data usage nearly doubles in India, thanks to a 3x increase in 3G usage

According to a MBIT index study conducted by Nokia Siemens Networks, the 3G infrastructure provider for most of the networks in India, it has been revealed that the mobile data usage in the country has almost doubled in the period of December 2011 – 2012. The main reason for the increased usage in mobile data is attributed to 3 times increase in usage of 3G mobile data by consumers, mainly from, what operators call, the “A” circles. Apparently, a regular 3G user consumes an average of 434 MB per month while the average amount of data consumed by the 2G user is 115 MB per month. Ultimately, there has been a 92% total increase in the usage of mobile data, with a whopping 196% increase in 3G usage and a 66% increase in 2G usage.

Idea Cellular has launched two new Android smartphones, Idea ID-920 and Idea Aurus III. The Idea ID 920 is the successor of the ID 918 that was launched last year and the Aurus III is the successor of the Aurus II that was launched last month. The ID 920 has a 3.5 inch (320 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and runs on Android 2.3 ( Gingerbread). The Aurus III has a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Both these smartphones are powered by a 1 GHz processor and comes with Dual SIM (GSM + GSM) support. Vodafone launches new international roaming pack, offers over 90% discount on data


Vodafone India has launched a new international roaming pack for its post-paid customers in India visiting countries like UK, USA, UAE, Singapore and Thailand. It offers over 90% discount on data and approximately 64% on outgoing local and international calls.  This pack is aimed at customers travelling overseas during this vacation season. The pack offers over 90% discount on data with rates as low as Rs.50/MB while roaming overseas. Outgoing local and international calls will be charged at Rs. 25/min and Rs.50/min respectively. Incoming calls will cost Rs. 50/min.
