UK networks pledge £5 billion to fix coverage issues

The UK Government have announced a major landmark deal with the four major mobile networks to improve mobile coverage in the UK. Under the terms of the deal, the four networks – Vodafone, Three, O2 and EE – have guaranteed to spend £5 billion together to offer guaranteed mobile coverage to 90% of premises across the UK by 2017. Ofcom repurposes 700MHz digital TV spectrum for mobile

Ofcom has begun repurposing some TV spectrum in the UK for use with mobile services in a bid to free up unused spectrum and increase the allowance available to UK consumers. The regulator today said it would make the 700MHz spectrum, currently used for digital terrestrial television, available for mobile broadband use by 2022.
