LeEco has beefed up its team in India by making three new appointments. The Chinese smartphone maker has appointed Shrinivas Bairi, as Senior Director R&D and Manish Aggarwal as Vice President, Marketing Communications for Smart Electronics Business. In addition, Divya Dixit has been appointed as head for Content Marketing Business.

Datawind tops Indian tablet market with 34.2% market share in Q1 2016: CMR

A total of 0.91 million tablets were sold in India, recording a 7% growth over the last quarter of CY 2015, according to CMR’s India Quarterly Tablet PC Market Review, 1Q CY 2016. The report said that 4G launches will increase sales of large screen smart connected devices, including tablets, for video content consumption, leading to market stabilization. Airtel launches 4G LTE services in Sivakasi and Villupuram

Airtel has launched its 4G LTE services in Sivakasi and Villupuram in Tamilnadu. It was the first operator to launch 4G in Tamilnadu back in June 2015. It was launched in Chidambaram, Sriperumbudur and Karaikudi in the state last month and is already available in Coimbatore, Erode, Hosur, Madurai, Pondicherry, Salem, Tirunelveli, Tirupur, Trichy, Vellore, Cuddalore, Ambur, Rajapalayam, Kovilpatti, Periyanaicken-palayam (Tp), Namakkal and Gudiyatham.

Apple does not get exemption from 30% local sourcing condition for retail stores in India

In a huge blow to its expansion plans in India, the government has rejected Apple’s plea of exempting the 30% local sourcing norm to open retail stores in the country. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley decided to support the decision by India’s Foreign Investment Promotion Board regarding the 30% of local sourcing.
