Lenovo launched the Vibe K5 Note smartphone in India last week starting at Rs. 11,999, which went on sale exclusively on Flipkart from midnight of August 3rd. Today the company has announced that it has sold Rs. 100 crore worth K5 Note smartphones on Flipkart in the first weekend, making it the fastest smartphone to reach this mark in end consumer sales on its platform. Facebook is testing an Express WiFi service in India and is in talks with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for a commercial launch. The social network has completed a pilot roll out of 125 rural public Wi-Fi hotspots in the country with a tie-up with state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

Samsung launched Z1 (Z130H), the company’s first budget Tizen OS smartphone in India back in January last year. Samsung Z2 (SM-Z200F) surfaced recently and it also showed up at the Note7 event in Africa recently. Android is controlling the smartphone market in India, according to a latest report from Strategy Analytics. The research firm revealed Android maintained first position with a record 97 percent smartphone OS marketshare in India.

Micromax has launched Canvas Unite 4 Plus, an enhanced version of the Canvas Unite 4 smartphone that was launched in June. It comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, compared to 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage in the Unit 4. Other specifications are similar, including a 5-inch HD screen, quad-core MediaTek SoC, 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash, fingerprint sensor and 4G LTE connectivity.
Coolpad India has sent out invites for the launch of its selfie-focused smartphone on August 10th. It is teasing the phone on its forum as Pure Marvel, even the invite says the same. The invite also mentioned Mega Selfie, hinting at a selfie-focused smartphone but it doesn’t reveal any details or specifications of the phone. Asus has sent out press invites for the launch of its Zenfone 3 series at its Z3nvolution event in India on August 17th. The series has Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Ultra and Zenfone 3 Deluxe. All these were introduced at the Computex 2016 in May, come with 1080p displays and have a fingerprint sensor on the back.
