Apple iPhone, iPad, Watch, Macs get a price cut in India as GST roll out begins

As the Goods and Services Tax or GST started rolling out in India. Apple today officially slashed the price of all its products iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and iMac, including its latest iPad Pro and Macs that were introduced last month. Even with 10% of basic customs duty (BCD) imposed on mobile phones that are imported, after GST price of iPhone is still cheaper than before. iPhone has received up Rs. 6,600 price cut, iPad has received price cut by up to Rs. 3,900 and Macbook has received up to Rs. 11,800 price. India wants Microsoft to offer one-time discount on Windows 10 to fight ransomware attacks

In the wake of recent ransomware attacks, India is asking Microsoft to offer a one-time discount to the more than 50 million Windows users in the country, according to a latest report from Reuters. India wants the discount so users can upgrade to the latest Windows 10 operating system following recent ransomware attacks.

Xiaomi opens its 500th service center in India, offers Rs. 500 coupon on smartphone repair

Xiaomi has achieved a new milestone by opening its 500th authorized service center in India in Bengaluru. With this, Xiaomi will provide an enhanced after sales service experience. Earlier this year it partnered with B2X, leading provider of customer care for smartphones for after sales service in India. At that time it had only 200 service centers across the country. Xiaomi’s service centers are now in 350 cities in 3 years since the company entered India.

Moto M Android 7.0 Nougat update finally starts rolling out in India

Lenovo-owned Motorola has finally started rolling out Android 7.0 (Nougat) update for its mid-range Moto M smartphone in India. It was launched in the country back in December last year running Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). In addition to Android Nougat, the update also adds Duo video calling app to the smartphone. It doesn’t have any other changelog.

OnePlus 5 is highest revenue-grossing smartphone in the launch week on Amazon India

OnePlus launched its flagship OnePlus 5 smartphone in India on June 22nd and the phone went on early sales exclusively on Amazon.in starting at Rs. 32,999 on the same day and it went on open sale from June 27th. Today the company has announced that the smartphone has become the highest revenue-grossing smartphone in the launch week on Amazon.in. But it did not reveal the number of smartphones sold during the launch week or revenue made by selling the phone.

Amazon Echo speaker with Alexa voice assistant launching in India later this year

Amazon is planning to launch its Echo speaker with Alexa voice assistant in India by the end of this year, according to a new report from ET. Citing two people aware of the development, the report further stated that it has already begun testing its products through select company executives and analysts. Earlier in February, a separate report had said that Amazon is “putting together content and localising the service”.

UberEats food delivery service expands to Delhi-NCR

After Mumbai, Uber has expanded its food deliver service UberEATS to Delhi-NCR. The services will start in Gurugram first. The company has partnered with over 300 restaurants and claims to offer local restaurants a reliable delivery option. . Uber says that the reason it chose Gurugram is because of its high density office and residential complexes. The service will be available seven days a week.
