Nokia India has partnered with New India Assurance (NIA), a leading global insurance group, wholly owned by the Govt. of India to launch handset insurance plan. This would let you safeguard your device against thefts, burglary, malicious acts, riots among others, as well as damage. It starts at minimum insurance premium of just Rs. 50, and the plan will cost 1.25% of the purchased handset’s value. Consumers purchasing their handsets from a Nokia Branded Retail Store can provide their personal details and receive their insurance certificate, handout and payment receipt to avail this plan. iBall has a launched the Edu-Slide i1017, the company’s new tablet in the Edu series aimed at students. It has a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) IPS display and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor with Quadcore GPU. It has a 2MP rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. MTS wins 8 circles in 800 MHz CDMA spectrum auction, to stop services in 3 more circles

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) that nationally operates its telecom services under the MTS brand has announced that that have won spectrum in the 800 MHz band in eight circles including Delhi, Kolkata, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh (West) & West Bengal. Nokia Asha 310 now available in India for Rs. 5601

Nokia Asha 310 that was announced last month is now available in India from the official Nokia Shop. It is the company’s first affordable touch screen phone with Dual SIM support and WiFi connectivity. It has a 3.0-inch (240 x 320 pixels), scratch-resistant capacitive touch screen display, 1 GHz processor and a  2 MP rear camera. It  runs on S40 Asha OS with Swipe UI and comes with 40 Free EA games including Tetris, Bejeweled, Need for Speed The Run and Fifa 2012. BlackBerry India head resigns

Just weeks after launching the BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry’s head honcho in India decided to resign the job, effective immediately. Previously known as Research in motion, the Waterloo company recently launched its revamped smartphone efforts with new devices based on the BlackBerry 10 operating system. The BlackBerry Z10 was launched in India with a hefty price tag of Rs. 43, 490 and it was supposedly sold out within two day, with BlackBerry scrambling to refill the chain with a fresh inflow of devices. But, after all this, it has been revealed that the BlackBerry India head is resigning today.

Nokia Lumia 620, the company’s mid range Windows Phone 8 device that has been much awaited in the Indian market, has finally gone on sale in the Nokia India online shop. The currently available colours on sale are Cyan, Green, White and Magenta while the Yellow and Black variants are still shown as “Coming soon”, but we think it’s a work in progress at the site, and it might be available soon too. All the colour variations are priced at Rs. 14,999/- with delivery marked as “within 7 days” meaning it is already hitting retail anytime now.

The phone showed up on Flipkart with complete specifications, and there is a count down for the phone’s launch on Xolo website, which shows 6 days remaining. It has a 4.5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It might be the MediaTek MT6589 SoC similar to the Micromax A116 Canvas HD since this has a PowerVR SGX544 GPU.
