Nokia Lumia 720 launched in India, available mid-April

Nokia has launched the Lumia 720 in India at an event in Delhi. The Lumia 720 was unveiled at the MWC 2013 last month along with the Lumia 520. It has a 4.3-inch  (800 x 480 pixels) ClearBlack display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8227 processor and runs on the latest Windows Phone 8 OS. It has a 6.7-megapixel auto focus camera at the back with LED Flash, Carl Zeiss optics and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.  It is 9 mm thick and weighs 129 grams. Samsung has finally started rolling out Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) update for the Galaxy Note users in India. The Samsung Galaxy Note got the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean last month starting from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Germany. Samsung confirmed back in December that the Galaxy Note would get the multi-screen / multi-window feature in the Android 4.1 update. This has a larger 3.5 inch display, powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227A processor and is also upgradable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean from the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

Gaana Music app now available for Windows Phone devices

Times Internet has finally launched the Gaana Music app for Windows Phone devices including the Windows Phone 8. Both the Gaana and Microsoft teams have been working closely to release the Windows Phone app, and it was finally launched at the TechEd in Bangalore. The Gaana Music app for Android, iPhone, BlackBerry and Java phones were released earlier this year. Airtel can continue 3G Intra-circle roaming till final order, says Delhi HC

Delhi High Court has temporarily stalled the execution of the Department of Telecom’s (DoT) order asking Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles in 3 days, where they did not acquire the license, according to a recent report from Economic Times. Bharti Airtel challenged the DoT’s order in the Delhi Hight Court last week, and the court ordered them to pay Rs. 350 crore (Rs. 50 crore per circle) for violating licence norms. Sony Xperia E and the Xperia E dual (C1604) went on pre-order online last week, now online retailer Saholic has started selling the Xperia E dual in India. Both the Xperia E and the Xperia E dual were announced back in December 2012. It comes with a 3.5-inch (480 x 320 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display, Dual SIM support and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), which is Upgradable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Micromax is now getting ready to release the second phone in the series, the A51 Bolt with a 3.5-inch (320 x 480 pixels) display. It runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS and packs a 2 MP rear camera and a 0.3 MP front-facing camera similar to the A35. It is powered by a 832 MHz Broadcom processor and has 3G support. The Karbonn A4, which lies between both these phones is listed on Flipkart, but no details about the pricing or the availability yet. All these phones come with dual SIM support, but lack 3G support. The Karbonn A6  comes with a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) capactitive touch screen display and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The Karbonn A4 has a 4-inch (320 x 480 Pixels) display and the Karbonn A3 comes with a 3.5-inch (320 x 480 Pixels). Both the A4 and the A3 run on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Karbonn Titanium S5 with a 5 inch qHD screen and 1.2 GHz Quad core processor gets priced at Rs. 11,990

A couple of months have passed since the launch of the Karbonn Titanium S1, with its nice mid range offering. It had a 4.5 inch qHD screen, but Karbonn has felt the need for a bigger screen we guess, and now it has launched the Karbonn Titanium S5 with a bigger 5 inch screen. With it almost mimicking the specs of the Titanium S1 except for the 8 megapixel camera, the 2MP front camera and the battery, it is clear that Karbonn is really catering to demands. It has a 1.2 GHz Quad core processor, presumably the Snapdragon S4 Play, which was the first chipset that added support for dual SIM and was a Quad core processor at the same time. This is the same as the Titanium S1. The device runs on Android 4.1 JellyBean.

Salora PowerMaxx gets the Android 4.1.2 JellyBean update

Remember the Salora PowerMaxx Android smartphone with a huge 3200 mAH battery? It was launched a couple of months back at a price of Rs. 15,999 and it ran Android 4.0 ICS. Just two months after release, it is receiving the Jellybean update from the company, promising to start the roll out from March 15th, which is today. So, the JellyBean update brings new features including Project Butter and Google now to the device, along with several improvements in performance and stability.

Xolo X1000 hands-on


Xolo X1000, the company’s latest Intel Medfield-powered Android smartphone was launched at an event in Goa, India yesterday. We brought you the hands-on photo gallery of the device from the event yesterday, here is the hands-on video of the device. The phone has good build quality, and the 4.7 inch HD Edge-to-edge curved glass display makes the device makes it stand out from other devices in the price range.  It is powered by a 2 GHz Intel Atom Z2480 processor with a 400 MHz PowerVR SGX540 GPU and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), but Xolo has promised Jelly Bean update for the device in coming months.
