Xiaomi files complaint against US Department of Defense for being added to blacklist

About two weeks ago, the US Department of Defense (DoD) announced a list of 9 companies that were being added to a blacklist of companies that were believed to be controlled by the Chinese Military. Xiaomi has now filed an official complaint against the ruling, claiming that the decision was “factually incorrect” and subsequently they are trying to reverse it.

Xiaomi Mi 11 and MIUI 12.5 global launch set for February 8

Xiaomi has started sending out invites for the launch of its Mi 11 flagship smartphone globally, after it was introduced in China last month. It will also introduce the MIUI 12.5, the next MIUI update for the global markets on the same day. It is doubtful if we can see the Mi 11 Pro at the event since it is expected to be introduced in China first. However, we can expect the Mi 11 Lite which is rumoured to pack a Snapdragon 732G SoC or possibly a Mi 10 version called the Mi 10s with Snapdragon 870. Xiaomi introduces Mi Air Charge technology that can remotely charge devices without cables or wireless charging stands

Xiaomi today introduced self-developed remote charging technology called Mi Air Charge that enables users to charge electronic devices over-the-air without any cables or wireless charging stands. It has been over 7 months since the Mi Band 5 was introduced with major changes including a new charging method. Now reports about the upcoming Mi Band 6 have surfaced. According to Zepp app code, a new device codenamed “Pangu”  and model number “XMSH16HM”. The Firmware and Resources files have revealed new features in the Mi Band 6. The “XMSH16HM” is the China NFC version and there is also “XMSH15HM” is the global version without NFC. Xiaomi today launched Mi Notebook 14(IC), the company’s latest laptop in the Mi Notebook 14 series in India. U.S. Department of Defense adds Xiaomi to blacklist of Chinese Military companies

In a major blow to the company, the United States Department of Defense (DOD) has added Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi to a blacklist of companies that allegedly are controlled by the Chinese Military. In response, Xiaomi has strongly objected to these claims and denied having connections with the Chinese military.

Redmi 9 Prime gets MIUI 12 Global Stable update in India [Download Link]

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 9 Prime back in August in India. To those unaware, Xiaomi sells the same smartphone as Redmi 9 in other markets. Redmi 9 Prime’s POCO sibling, POCO M2 started receiving MIUI 12 global stable update in India a couple of weeks ago. Now, Xiaomi has started rolling out MIUI 12 stable update for Redmi 9 Prime users in India. With this update, Xiaomi concludes MIUI 12 roll-out for all it’s Redmi 9 series devices in India.

Redmi K40 series with AMOLED display, Snapdragon 888 to be announced in February, price confirmed

After rumours, Xiaomi today confirmed that it will introduce the Redmi K40 series in China next month. Redmi General Manager, Lu Weibing also confirmed that the pricing will start at 2,999 yuan (US$ 460 / Rs. 33,993 approx.) and it will be a cost-effective phone powered by the flagship Snapdragon 888 Mobile Platform. Redmi 7A starts receiving Android 10 based MIUI 12 Stable Update in India

[Update, Jan 9, 2021]: After a long wait, Xiaomi has finally started MIUI 12 Stable ROM roll-out for Redmi 7A users in India. The Android 10 based update comes as MIUI 12.0.1.0.QCMINXM, and brings December Android security patch to the device.
