Xiaomi just sent out invites for the inauguration of its first Mi Home store in India in Bengaluru, as it had promised last year. Xiaomi’s Mi Home store will be offering a range of products such as portable speakers, power banks, headphones, Mi Band, Mi Air Purifier and more, as mentioned in the invite, but it is not clear if it will sell smartphones at the launch.

Close to 14 months after the launch of the Mi 5, Xiaomi finally introduced it’s successor earlier this month. Predictably called the Mi 6, the phone continues the tradition of bringing top of the line specifications at half the price of current flagships. In India though, the Redmi series remains the bread and butter for the company. Xiaomi just announced its flagship Mi 6 smartphone at an event in China, as it had promised. It packs a 5.15-inch 1080p display similar to the Mi 5S. It also has reading mode that cancels blue light and 1-nit ultra dark night display for reading at night. This is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 processor, has 6GB of RAM and also comes with 12-megapixel dual rear cameras, one with wide-angle lens and other one with telephoto lens. It also has portrait mode, similar to the iPhone 7 Plus for blurring background objects and 2x optical zoom. There is also four-axis optical image stabilization (OIS) to help take steady shots and videos. Detailed specifications of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 surfaced last week, now the first shots of the smartphone has surfaced enclosed in a transparent case. Sadly this doesn’t reveal the front part of the phone but it shows the back with a fingerprint sensor in the middle, 3.5mm audio jack, secondary microphone and an infrared sensor on the top, speaker grills and USB Type-C port on the bottom.

Xiaomi today launched Mi Headphones Comfort, its latest closed-back wired headphones in India. It has a simple, lightweight design along with a comfortable headband and ear-cups made of plush, soft material that has intuitive controls on the left ear cup. Xiaomi says that the soft ear-cups have breathable pads that doesn’t strain your ears even with extended use. Last week Xiaomi confirmed its flagship Mi 6 announcement on April 19th. Now it has confirmed that the smartphone will come with dual rear cameras, come with upgraded curved screen and come with 6GB of RAM. Earlier rumors revealed 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM with 128GB storage variants for the smartphones. Xiaomi is also expected to introduced Mi 6 Plus with a larger Quad HD screen and a bigger battery. Xiaomi this week introduced Mi VR Play 2 its second-generation VR (Virtual Reality) headset in China, which is the successor of last year’s Mi VR Play. Unlike the zipper design on the predecessor, this has outer covering made of light-weight and soft fabric so the whole headset weighs just 183 grams. It can fit phones from 4.7 to 5.7 inches in size, similar to the predecessor. It looks like Google Daydream View but it doesn’t come with a wireless remote.

Specifications of Xiaomi Mi Max 2, the second-generation phablet surfaced back in February. Last week a Xiaomi smartphone condnamed Oxygen surfaced in benchmarks. This is said to come with the same 6.4-inch 1080p display, but this is said to be powered by Snapdragon 626 processor instead of Snapdragon 650 or 652 on the Mi Max variants. After several rumors, Xiaomi has announced Mi Pad 3, successor of Mi Pad 2 that was introduced back in 2015. It has the same 7.9-inch (2048 × 1536 pixels) display at 326 ppi as the first two Mi Pad tablets, but the Intel processor has been replaced by MediaTek MT8176 hexa-core processor. It has the same 6.95mm slim unibody metal design as the predecessor and also has an improved 13-megapixel rear camera. We have already seen several reports about Xiaomi Mi 6 flagship. Now, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun has confirmed that the Mi 6 will launch sometime this month. Jun confirmed the launch of Mi 6 during a live streaming session with Xiaomi fans. He didn’t reveal the exact date, but the announcement might happen on April 11 or April 18.
