Xiaomi India launches Mi VIP Club program

Mi.com was the first technology e-commerce platform in India to offer a reward program called Reward Mi which was announced by Xiaomi India back in June last year. Reward Mi is a program to rewards fans with exclusive benefits such as F-codes and discount coupons which can be redeemed on selected products on mi.com. Now, Xiaomi India has announced another reward program called Mi VIP Club for its fans. Xiaomi just announced Redmi S2, the company latest selfie-focused smartphone in the Redmi series in China. It packs a 5.99-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, is powered by Snapdragon 625 with up to 3GB RAM, runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) with MIUI 9 on top, has a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash along with a secondary 5-megapixel camera to capture depth information for AI portrait shots. Xiaomi is expanding to France and Italy this month

Xiaomi entered Europe for the first time last September starting from Spain. Now it has announced that it will expand to France and Italy later this month. It will launch in France on May 22nd, 2018 and in Italy on May 24th, 2018.

Worldwide smartphone shipments decline 2.9% YoY in Q1 2018, Xiaomi posts 87.8% YoY growth: IDC

Worldwide smartphone shipments have declined 2.9% YoY in Q1 2018. The smartphone vendors shipped a total of 334.3 million units during the first quarter of 2018. This is a sharp decline compared to the 344.4 million units shipped in the first quarter of 2017. Xiaomi Mi Music with free Hungama Music streaming, Dynamic lyrics, Mi Video with video content integration officially launched in India

Xiaomi at its Mi POP event in Mumbai officially launched the new Mi Music app with Hungama Music integration. This was rolled out in beta for Xiaomi users back in March. With the partnership, over 10 million tracks will be available for free for streaming across 13 Indian languages as well as international languages.

Xiaomi discontinues further MIUI 9 development to focus on stability and system optimizations, MIUI 10 expected soon

Update: Xiaomi just confirmed that after the latest update of public MIUI 9 Global Developer ROM, updates for MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM will be suspended for all devices. The company said that updates are expected to be resumed after July, 2018. This might be based on MIUI 10 since the MIUI 9 was introduced at the same time.

Xiaomi Mi Band Strap in Black color now available in India

Xiaomi’s Mi Band comes with a Black strap. Last month the company launched the strap for the Mi Band HRX Edition in Green and Orange colors, after launching in Blue color version a few months back. Today the company has finally launched the Black color strap in the country, after feedback from several users. Xiaomi promises its hardware business model and overall net profit margin will never exceed 5%

Xiaomi at the Mi 6X launch event in China has also made a separate announcement where it promised that the overall net profit margin will never exceed 5%. This also includes smartphones, IoT and lifestyle products. It also said that If the margin crosses 5%, then the company will find a way to return the excess above 5% to its users.
