Sony Xperia Z3 vs Apple iPhone 6 Camera Comparison

Sony’s Xperia Z3 is one of the many flagship devices out there battling it out with the iPhone. There is always this constant effort to one up Apple’s flagship every generation and the current one is no exception. The Z3 is Sony’s answer to Apple’s iPhone 6 and with both of them placing high emphasis on their cameras, we thought it’d be ideal to compare them and see how far the companies have gone, to take mobile story telling to the next level.

Sony confirms Android 5.0 Lollipop update coming to entire Xperia Z line

Google officially announced Android 5.0 Lollipop two days back. Since then smartphone makers are announcing which of their handsets will receive the latest Android update. Today, Sony is announcing that the entire Xperia Z series will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Sony Xperia Z3: Camera Highlights

Sony introduced the Xperia Z3 and the Z3 compact recently, at the IFA event in Berlin. The obvious upgrades to the Z2 and the Z1 compact featured a slightly newer design and subtle changes to the hardware. One of the clear USPs of the Z3 is, of course, the camera. Since the Z1, Sony’s hardware for the camera has almost been consistent, but a lot of changes in software have not only added features, but made the experience much better. Another great USP of the Z3 and other Xperia devices is the ability to protect itself from water and dust. Couple these two and you get something that other flagships are not capable of.

Sony launched the Xperia Z3 Compact along with the Z3 in India last month. It is powered by quad-core Snapdragon 801 (MSM 8274AC) 28nm HPm Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.46 GHz power core and has Adreno 330 GPU, similar to the Z3. It has a 4.6-inch HD display and runs on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat). Faster processor makes it faster than the Z1 Compact. Check out the synthetic benchmark scores below. It is powered by quad-core Snapdragon 801 (MSM 8274AC) 28nm HPm Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.46 GHz power core and has Adreno 330 GPU. Sony has launched the Xperia Z3 Compact along with the Xperia Z3 in India. It was unveiled earlier this month at the IFA and packs a 4.6-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) Triluminos Display with X-Reality engine, slightly larger than the Z1 Compact, powered by slightly faster 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and runs on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) out of the box. It has the same 20.7-megapixel rear camera with Sony G lens, 4K video recording and a 2.2-megapixel 1080p front-facing camera, similar to the Xperia Z3. Sony has launched the Xperia Z3, the company’s latest flagship smartphone in India, as expected. It was unveiled at the IFA 2014 earlier this month. Even though the 5.2-inch 1080p display and the 20.7-megapixel rear camera with 1/2.3″ Sony Exmor RS image sensor are similar to the Xperia Z2, the Xperia Z3 has a more brighter screen, powered by a slightly faster Snapdragon 801 SoC and runs on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) out of the box. Sony was expected to launch the Xperia Z3 in India last week, but it didn’t happen. Today the company has sent out invites for a launch event in India on September 25th. It is expected to launch both the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact at the event later this week. The Sony Xperia Z3 is powered by a slightly faster Snapdragon 801 SoC, has a more rounded sides and runs on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) out of the box, compared to the Xperia Z2. Sony seeks $1.7 billion loss due to sluggish smartphone sales

Sony has predicted a staggering net loss of 230 billion yen ($2.1 billion) for its fiscal year ending next March. That is nearly five times the 50 billion yen loss the company’s previous forecast. The company said it would not pay a dividend this business year after it was hit by a 180 billion yen ($1.7 billion) impairment charge for its struggling smartphone division.

Sony has launched the Xperia E3 and Xperia E3 Dual, the company’s latest smartphones in the E series. Both these smartphones were unveiled at the IFA 2014 earlier this month and come with a 4.5-inch FWVGA touch screen display, 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, Android 4.4 (KitKat), 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera.
