Samsung Galaxy S5 Review

For the past 4 years, there is an event that most phone geeks look forward to; the announcement of the latest Samsung Galaxy S flagship. Ever since the launch of the original Galaxy S smartphone which was a big success for a flagship device at the time, we have all waited to see what Samsung brings in new every year with the successor to the previous model. Samsung have a history of providing a do it all device with every feature you could imagine packed into a single device. Naturally this year also everyone expected the same.

Each year Samsung manages to sell more and more of it’s flagship device and this year it’s expecting to do the same. However it does have some fierce competition from the likes of HTC and Sony. Only time will tell how it stands against them but let’s take a look at the S5 and how it performs.

Samsung design chief replaced amidst lukewarm Galaxy S5 response

Chang Dong-hoon, head of the mobile design team at Samsung Electronics offered to resign last week and has since been replaced according to a report published by Reuters. Lee Min-hyouk, the VP for Mobile Design at Samsung will be replacing Chang. Lee is well known for being the youngest senior executive at Samsung. Samsung filed for Samsung Gear Solo and Samsung Gear Now trademarks last month. Samsung Gear 2 Solo (SM-R710) has appeared on India import/export website Zauba. Only one unit of the smartwatch has been imported from Korea to Bangalore for R&D purposes. The price of the smartwatch is mentioned as Rs. 12,292. This listing was first spotted by MakTechBlog.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Copper Gold variant hits Indian market

Samsung launched its flagship smartphone the Galaxy S5 in India in March for Rs 51,500. Today, the company has announced that the phone is now available in Copper Gold color in India. Prior to this, the phone was available in Charcoal Black and Shimmery White variants.

Jury says Samsung infringed Apple patents, orders to pay $119 million in fine

The long going Apple and Samsung patent trial received another hearing and decision from the US federal jury. In its verdict, the jury found Samsung guilty of infringing on two of four Apple patents, the ‘647 patent for data detectors and the ‘721 patent for “slide-to-unlock”. However, the jury said that Samsung did not infringe the ‘959 “universal search” patent or the ‘414 “background sync” patent.

Samsung started rolling out the Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for the Galaxy Note 2 last week France. The update is now rolling out for the Note 2 users in India. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 got the KitKat update in January and the Galaxy S4 got the update in February. The Galaxy Note 2  got Android 4.1.2 update back in December 2012 and got the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) update directly, skipping Android 4.2, back in November last year. Samsung schedules health-focused event on May 28th

Samsung has scheduled an event in San Francisco on May 28th to discuss about something related to Health. Since this comes from Samsung’s Semiconductor arm, it could be related to forthcoming sensors and components, rather than some new fitness device, says Engadget that received the invite. Samsung launched its new Gear devices, including the Gear Fit, a smartband recently. All these accessories have Heart Rate sensor to monitor the heart rate.

Samsung Galaxy K zoom vs Nokia Lumia 1020 Hands On

Today, Samsung announced the successor of the Galaxy S4 zoom as a new Samsung Galaxy K zoom. The main talking point of this camera centric device is the 20.7 Megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, 4.4-44mm lens with 10x optical zoom, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and Xenon Flash. The Galaxy K zoom features a much better packaging (relatively) and better specifications than the yesteryear predecessor – Galaxy S4 zoom. We will be comparing it with the Nokia Lumia 1020.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy K zoom, the company’s latest camera-centric smartphone with a 20.7-megapixel at an event in Singapore recently. We got some hands-on time with the camera phone and also managed to compare it with some phones, including the Galaxy S5. Next to the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy K zoom looks exactly similar on the front. The Galaxy K zoom has a 4.8-inch 720p Super AMOLED display and the S5 has a 5.2-inch 1080p Super AMOLED screen. Both these run on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with the latest Touchwiz UI.
