Jury says Samsung infringed Apple patents, orders to pay $119 million in fine

The long going Apple and Samsung patent trial received another hearing and decision from the US federal jury. In its verdict, the jury found Samsung guilty of infringing on two of four Apple patents, the ‘647 patent for data detectors and the ‘721 patent for “slide-to-unlock”. However, the jury said that Samsung did not infringe the ‘959 “universal search” patent or the ‘414 “background sync” patent.

Samsung started rolling out the Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for the Galaxy Note 2 last week France. The update is now rolling out for the Note 2 users in India. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 got the KitKat update in January and the Galaxy S4 got the update in February. The Galaxy Note 2  got Android 4.1.2 update back in December 2012 and got the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) update directly, skipping Android 4.2, back in November last year. Samsung schedules health-focused event on May 28th

Samsung has scheduled an event in San Francisco on May 28th to discuss about something related to Health. Since this comes from Samsung’s Semiconductor arm, it could be related to forthcoming sensors and components, rather than some new fitness device, says Engadget that received the invite. Samsung launched its new Gear devices, including the Gear Fit, a smartband recently. All these accessories have Heart Rate sensor to monitor the heart rate.

Samsung Galaxy K zoom vs Nokia Lumia 1020 Hands On

Today, Samsung announced the successor of the Galaxy S4 zoom as a new Samsung Galaxy K zoom. The main talking point of this camera centric device is the 20.7 Megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, 4.4-44mm lens with 10x optical zoom, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and Xenon Flash. The Galaxy K zoom features a much better packaging (relatively) and better specifications than the yesteryear predecessor – Galaxy S4 zoom. We will be comparing it with the Nokia Lumia 1020.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy K zoom, the company’s latest camera-centric smartphone with a 20.7-megapixel at an event in Singapore recently. We got some hands-on time with the camera phone and also managed to compare it with some phones, including the Galaxy S5. Next to the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy K zoom looks exactly similar on the front. The Galaxy K zoom has a 4.8-inch 720p Super AMOLED display and the S5 has a 5.2-inch 1080p Super AMOLED screen. Both these run on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with the latest Touchwiz UI. Samsung launched a new brand of cameraphone with the original Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom last year. Definitely things did not go as Samsung expected with the Galaxy S4 Zoom. Last year, Samsung just added a bulky camera unit to a mid-range smartphone and used the then flagship – Galaxy S4 moniker to sell it. But this year, Samsung seems to have actually added something to the device and taken the flagship branding away. We will be checking out the hands on comparison with its predecessor – Galaxy S4 Zoom and also with other smartphones.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy K zoom, the company’s latest camera-centric smartphone with a 20.7-megapixel at an event in Singapore few hours back. We got some hands-on time with the camera phone. Even though it has 10x optical zoom like the S4 zoom, this has a new retracting lens technology to make the phone’s body slim at 20.2 mm (16.6mm at its thinnest). Samsung reports profit of $8.2 billion in Q1 2014

Samsung just reported its earnings for Q1 2014, in which the company has managed to make operating profit of 8.49 trillion won ($8.2 billion) for the quarter ended March 31st.  It has reported net profit of 7.57 trillion won ($7.3 billion) and revenues of 53.68 trillion won, down by 9% from 59.28 trillion won in the fourth quarter of 2013. It has a 20.7-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, 4.4-44mm lens with 10x optical zoom, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and Xenon Flash. It has a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED screen, powered by a Hexa-Core processor (1.7 GHz Dual Core Cortex A15+ 1.3 GHz Quad Core Cortex A7) and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with the latest Samsung Touchwiz UX.

Russian website hi-tech.mail.ru has posted the press images and the specifications of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Dual SIM (SM-G355H). According to the leak, the Galaxy Core 2 would have a 4.5-inch (800 x 480 Pixels) LCD capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and would run Android 4.4 (KitKat). Samsung’s latest flagship device, the Galaxy S5, was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona and eventually arrived in Indian shores earlier this week. With a sky high price of Rs. 51,500, we set out to find if the device is really worth the price. While we will let you know the conclusion in our full review of the phone, in the process, we took the really intriguing 16 MP camera for a spin. We had purchased the international variant in the US and tested the camera in and around San Francisco to see how it fared in different lighting conditions.
